Dat frostiness. As much as I dislike IPA I am still drinking a beer at my desk at 2:45 on a Friday (and I like the label). So there, take that work!

IPA was an emergency measure to make sure beer didn't spoil while sailing from Great Britain to India. This problem no longer exists. We can end this emergency measure and go back to beer that tastes good.

In Belgium for a wedding a few years ago - Leffe Blonde on draft was very good. Bottled and sold here in US America, not so much. I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I default to Newcastle. Stay thirsty my friends.

I'm sitting with a pint of Guinness with a quadruple Bushmills whiskey shot in the bottom of the glass. It's been a long day and is my second pint.

I had an unfortunate incident with drinking too much (read 17) Newcastles in college. I cannot touch it ever again. I have had the Leffe over there, I hate when they cant get it right over here!

I guess that explains why IPA tastes like the MRE of the beer world.

About 15 years ago, my wife and I went to Denmark. I drank lots of Carlsberg and Tuborg, and went looking for it here in the States. No Turborg anywhere, but I found some Carlsberg. Took it home, opened it, took a big swig—totally different stuff. I looked closely at the label and it said, "Brewed under license by Labatt Brewery in Canada." You can use the same malt, hops, barley, whatever, but as soon as you use different water it's entirely different beer.

I ate an MRE once.
It was actually pretty good.

The key is that it's fresh over there. Neither of us is a beer drinker, but there it was like champagne - so fresh! Wandering around the Ghent town square, find some stairs down to a brewery. Huge wooden casks, and a 3 stool bar. Guy asked - vould you like to try mein bier? Jawol!
Belgium is great for many reasons, but one of them is everyone speaks English, Dutch, French, and German. Only had to pull out my bad high school French once, in a lace store.
Oh - and my unfortuate incident in college was with tequila. Can't even have it in the house for other people. Had a couple Long Island Iced Teas since then, but the tequila was well hidden.

This may not be special to you, but it is for those of us in Michigan, haha. I picked them up while I was in Philly.

Ha ha! I admit, I have eaten a few and not hated them... but it's more fun to pretend they cause face cancer and might be the leading source of gut rot!

That sounds completely plausible. InBev owns Leffe (and practically everything else) so who knows where it's brewed for US consumption. Place up the street from me has Leffe on draft, but it's nothing like what I had in Belgium. Road trip!

The cans are 440ml draught cans and in a pint glass it leaves a little too much room so I fill the space with Bushmills only I end up with some guinness left in the can so end up topping it up as I drink.

It's 2:24 on a Friday. I could go grab a beer from the 'fridge - the beer came to me yesterday long about 4:30 - or something stronger from the upstairs bar. I could stay at my desk or go up to the roof deck and sip while surfing Oppo over Wifi.
Thing is, I just got back from a belly-bomb burger lunch, and I'm kind of sleepy now.

My grandfather fought in Vietnam back when they were still using actually horrible rations. He told me there was a ration kit with lima beans, and they nicknamed it "Ham and Motherf*ckers".

Hoppy goodness is delicious. Drink a marzen or some busch if IPA's are bit too spicy for you.

Me tooo, and I only have 24 of them :( more likely 18 after tonight.
While I was out there I met this awesome girl, so maybe I'll go back soon to hang out with her. We've been texting like every day, this is dangerous territory right? This long distance shit?
Also I never realized how fucking batshit crazy Joywave's Tongues music video is.

No I didn't hit it, but her texts heavily suggest that she wants me to, haha.
"I just want you to be in my bed right and and put it in me. I'm so in the mood :/"
that's a text from today.
I'm thinking fuck it, maybe I'll go over there and spend some more time with her, what have I got to lose? I fucking loved Philly when I went there, I wouldn't mind going back. See where it goes from there. I'm only young-ish once.
You'll definitely have to watch that video, I knew it was going to be good when Youtube warned me about the content. It's a catchy damn tune too.

uh yeah, she wants the D fo sho. Philly is super fun. I make it down once in a while
That has to be the weirdest thing I have seen in a while. reminds me of drunk high school parties with all the nakedness. All the weird drama though not so much. Some director really doesnt like clothes!

Lol yeah, she wasn't beating around the bush (which I hope she doesn't have).
It started with her texting me "what are you doing?" "just watching tv" "oh, I'm just watching tv in bed in nothing but a t-shirt".
I thought the independence beer garden was pretty awesome and I thought Reading Terminal Market was even more awesome, haha. Still gotta make it to Paddy's Pub. After that I want to explore more off the beaten path.
It's an 11 hour drive for me though. I see flights aren't bad at $225 ish.
