"Osiris - I can haz Euro spec?" (o51r15)

I'm currently stationed in Alaska and, as I've stated many times before, I drive a 2000 Dodge Dakota with the 5.9L Magnum paired up with a 5-speed manual.
I absolutely love my truck. It's got more power than it need. I can romp through just about anything. It gets relatively ok miles per gallon for a 14 year old V8. But here's my question: when I move to my next base, I want to get something sporty. I want a 2-door coupe that I can have fun in. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe has recently hit the top of my list of possibilities and I wanted to know if anyone here has any first hand experience with them and can recommend certain types of configurations or anything.
The current model year has a 3.8L V6 that throws out 348hp. That, to me, sounds fricken awesome! And I can build one on Hyundai's website for $28K. Another question that came to mind though, when I was building it, is that there are 3 trims to choose from. Standard, R-Spec, and Ultimate. Anyone know what the difference is? They all use the same 3.8L and they all offer a 6-speed manual (R-Spec only comes in a manual).
These are just some general questions I had about it. It'll still probably be about six months to a year off before I actually go buy anything, but I like to have all the information that I can before making any commitments.

The R-Spec comes with Brembos and an LSD.

Will the Genesis snow?

That Dodge 5.9L gets negative MPG.

I try not to think about it.

That's why I'm holding off until I get to my next base (and out of Alaska) before I buy. I'd still drive it in the snow though. Put some studded snow tires on it. Hell yea.

But is that worth a $2,500 jump in price?

Don't get me wrong, I love my truck. It's fun as hell especially because it's a "light" truck with a big-ass engine in it. I just hate having to fill it up every 3 weeks or so.

For Brembos and LSD at $2500, I'd probably do it. Not sure if it's "worth" it though.

I loved that motor in my Dad's 2000 Durango. Massively jealous that you've got it on a 5 speed though, that transmission sucked balls.

I've never had a problem with my transmission. 14 years old and still strong enough to burn the tires a little bit. The coolest thing about my truck, is that I've never seen anyone else with the 5.9L with a manual. I've asked the question a couple times here and it's always come down to either the original owner custom ordered it that way (less likely) or it was done at the end of the model run when the 2001's started coming out with the 5.9L with a manual (more likely). Either way, I think it's cool as hell.

Definitely cool. Rereading my post, I don't think I made it clear that the auto trans was terrible. Thus the jealousy over your 5 speed. Did you have to get a base trim level or something to keep the stick?

I bought the truck used. It's a two door (with the bench seat in the back) with the SLT trim. Hell, in 2000 I was only 12 years old.
