Post Work Trip Report

So I got paroled from Hawaii (not too many people would say that, huh?) on Monday. The trip itself wasn't too eventful. Rental car wise, the first part was much better:
2013 Ecoboost Fusion. Loved that thing! Enough room for three guys and luggage, good power, and the gas mileage was really good.

During my quick trip to Guam, I had a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe. Nice SUV, but the majority of my time in it was spent sleeping during Vongfong's landfall (we worked 30+ hours straight in the Operations Center and I tend to snore pretty bad, so I conked out in the car). Also, even in Guam, I can't escape the Canadian penny. ARRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!!

Return to Hawaii and I got a Honda Fit. Honestly, it wasn't a bad car (although it was a base model) but it had it's qwerks. I really hated that only the driver's door unlocked when you put it in park (and I wasn't going to try and find the settings to change it since it was just a mild annoyance). It also wasn't as peppy as I thought it should've been. Once again, oh well. The last few nights I was there, we got locked inside Diamonhead Crater (where we were working). It closes and the gates for the tunnel get locked at about 6pm. That's what we get for ramping up for that damned "Hurricane" Ana.

All in all it was a decent trip (I really wish I would've gotten a pic of the "Lexus" minivan taxi though). Then I got home.

My wife had been keeping a secret from me.

For two weeks, she pestered me about when I was getting home (not an uncommon occurrence when I leave for work trips). When I got home on Monday, I expected some "re-acquaintance" time (Minecraft is a live saver!) That didn't happen. Instead...

Quite the surprise. It'll be 9 years since we had a newborn in the house (quite a gap, I know). It still hasn't fully sunk in to my thick head.
