Just realized I have about 2k in the bank, which means I can get the mounts for my Mazda 6. But potential issues scare me.
Under any load(Going uphill at half-throttle) in 6th gear (Automatic), it kind of misfires/shudders until it decides to shiftdown.
3rd gear has a slight... delay in engaging. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's really rough.
It burns about one quart per oil change.
It has 155k miles.
The oil light flickers when the engine is up to temp and I'm stopped.
All of this stresses me out on a daily basis. It's a pretty fun car but soon I'll go away for college and my ability to do repairs will be limited severely. I could probably sell it for close to 5k right now.
I do have a perfectly normal manual Camry (pictured) which needs a new engine, but has an essentially new stage two clutch installed. It was reliable until it burned all of it's oil on my way to school after 207k faultless and abusive miles.
So Oppo, I need ideas as to whether I should sell the Mazda and fix my Camry, or hope it soldiers on and risk losing any value when I blow an engine/gearbox?
Or alternative car ideas (Bored? My ZIP code is 96007, find me something cool)?
Or ways to get more legroom in a Miata?

Found you a couple things!
Pretty clean V6 Camaro: http://redding.craigslist.org/cto/4728936172…
Sweet looking Chevy C10: http://redding.craigslist.org/cto/4728461920…
There was a half decent Acura Integra, but it needed a fair bit of work doing to it o.o

I rolled my eyes when I saw "V6 Camaro" but it's actually pretty cool!
No way I could afford the gas on the C10 haha.

Likewise, but it does look rather smart! That C10 was definitely a bit of silliness, though it looks mean in matt black.
Found a Chevy HHR if you feel like turning in your Oppo card?

Dude I owned AND loved a 2.2l Camry... I'm not sure I ever received a card at all.

Yo I don't get the Camry hate! My neighbours had one when I was a kid, and for some reason I really like it.
I have an illest sticker on my car, apparently my card got lost in the post? Weird.

Im pretty sure Autocross automatically gets you reinstated. Or SCCA stickers.
I keep reading about the Miata and the legroom problems, which cycles me back to E30's (Too expensive) and Focii (Almost none have the 2.3l AND a manual). Which is exactly how I ended up with a midsize sedan.
It must be nice to be a non-car person and just not give a fuck...

Hardly anywhere to autocross here I'm afraid, and SCCA wouldn't make much sense for me; UK based!
I'm not sure what used car prices are like across the pond, but what about an old Impreza/Legacy? The '96 WRX STI is to this day, the most fun car I've ever driven.

Oh, well perhaps an MSA sticker then?
Eh. A WRX would be at the outside range of my budget, and in that price range they've been abused their whole lives. A decent STi runs easily £7500

A Legacy 2.5 may not be a bad call though...

MSA is a good call! I've been pining for more stickers...
True, they've all been beaten to the ends of the earth. Sham about the price, you can often pick up a decent runner from between £1-2k here. Legacy 2.5 would be good! Also what about an old Prelude? They can be rather nice when not riced all the way out.
