"Vimto" (smudgey)

I just gave my 2 month old 2014 Nissan Versa Note its first wax, so I decided to remove my hubcaps and take some pictures. Most Oppo users seem to love the sight of bare steelies, but I'll use this post as a bit of a poll: Hubcaps on or off?

Paint your steelies white. You won't regret it.

I think the steelies look good. Especially on a white car. Keep em off!

I figured you would say that haha. I bet you know exactly where these pics were taken

On. Do you really want your Versa to look like a taxi?

I say off for the winter months and on during summer.

Really bad lighting for that. Compared to the stock, Off.

But it's Florida. Even here in Pensacola, which is practically in Alabama, it doesn't snow most years. I think we got a light dusting once last winter. The other 364 days, it's somewhere between 'warm' and 'inferno'. But I am highly indecisive, so I can see myself appreciating taking them off and putting them back on every few months

Oh, right. Then yes, if it were my car I would porbably be taking them off and putting them back on every few months.

The thing is, I'm fairly certain that if you leave the hubcaps off, the steelies themselves won't rust. Often I see 3-5 year old vehicles with one missing hubcap, and the exposed steely is in dying need of a respray. I think that's mostly avoided when you leave your hubcaps off.
(how's the Leaf lately?)

Quite well. It's a little over 13,000 miles. Nothing unusual to report. :)

I'm all for bare steelies, but center caps are a must. Otherwise axle nuts and cotter pins and whatnot are visible, and usually rusty and ugly.

I don't know much of Pensacola, so actually I do not.

Looks weird with it off...I'd say keep it on. It looks like you have 1980s wheels with a modern car, it just looks weird.

How does one into center caps for steelies? I'm not sure if mine are generic or 4-lug Nissan-specific

I've got steelies for my MINI's winter tires. Truth is, I think they look like shit and I've decided to get hubcaps for when I put them on in a few weeks.

On. I also find it shocking that alloys arent standard on all cars. Its 2014 people!

Just about every full-line automaker has at least one model in their lineup with steel wheels on the base model. Nissan doesn't have alloys on the base Versa, Sentra, Cube, Altima, even the $26k base model Quest has hubcaps.

get some color matched paint for the steelies, I think that would look good. Those hubcaps suck!
