It's a bit late, but I thought of this browsing through Goo-Net's !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! of cars under US$2,000.
There's a lot of cars to choose from. No restrictions, it just has to be one of these under two-grand cars.
Good luck.
(I'll probably share this again in the morning for those who miss it now.)
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

That's a very nice find. Probably cheaper than any similar 750iL in the US.

Tiny engine, but still a very nice car for the money.

Dang, that's a nice car for the money. The wheels actually look decent on it, too.

Engine swap it. Make it a sleeper. I really like it a lot actually.

True, it is really nice and a great engine swap candidate.
For $110 more, you could have a 9 month newer Stagea , which is pretty much a Skyline wagon.
Plus, it's AWD, where that Impreza is FWD (which I didn't know even existed).

Yeah. 4WD, wagon, 170 HP, 17 in wheels.

Indeed, very nice.
I wonder what company made those wheels, I kinda like them.

$230, actually. Still, nice price for a '99 Celsior .

Are you buying a Subaru wagon now? You've got the proper license for it...

Stream of conciousness observations...
Buick Ruxus...Chevrolet Impara
Oh my God, even Japan makes fun of itself. And there are 29 Buicks in Japan, 29 more than I expected. And what's with the preponderence of Century wagons?
Also, there's an Aztek for $9k. That's reasonable.
What asshole thought THIS was a good idea to import?
Finally, this wins...
Its a right-hand drive Taurus wagon with an SHO-style bodykit manufactured by a company that had a vague understanding of what the SHO looked like. It features 'rich options' like cloth seats and no cruise control, pegging it as an unfortunate 'G' trim, the Oliver Twist of the Taurus lineup ("Please, sir, can I have some more options?" "Fuck you *punts into municipal fleet*"). But it has a third row...wha??? THIRD ROW! Winner.
Yes, its $2,230, but I'm sure I can beat the guy up. I'm in the biz, so I know how it works. This thing has probably been eating his floorplan for 10,275 weeks and its time to turn the metal. Because even in a wacky land where a $1500 2.7-powered Intrepid SE commands an asking price of $9200+, this Taurus gets no respect.
And if I'm disqualified over $230, whatever. I'm still a winner. Because I'm cruising around Japan in an ovoid Taurus painted with the skin of Grimace with a bodykit flaunting my 140hp and 3.0l of Vulcan V6 strength with myself and SIX of the COOLEST PEOPLE EVER because they're riding in a meter maid's Taurus that thinks its an SHO!
