Why does it seem that everything fun that isn't made by an American company have push button start... It's so annoying. I want to turn the key dammit, and just like K-Roll and his dislike of turbos I hate push button start. Proper keys are True and Pure.

Proper keys can turn off and kill you.
Americans are just more risky.

Sir, I have no idea what you're talking about..
Remember that the C7, Mustang, 200, and I'm sure many other cars have push start now, not just foreign cars. ;)

Hey at least it's not like cars are mandated to be fully self driving....yet.

Because push button start is a feature, and car companies want to sell people cars with features.
I think it's a bit silly too. Who decided, "you know what, all this having to put a key in a lock and turn it is too much effort to start a car, we should have a button instead"?
But...I have a car with push button start, and it doesn't really bother me.

Not everything has them. Most Chevy's don't. BUT I AM RIGHT AND I'M NOT CHANGING MY POSITION ON THIS. I will mourn the loss of the key...

Most all new cars have push button now.

Too me it's just a preference and it's something I've enjoyed doing since I was a child. It's just that thing that seems to be missing from cars.

YAY! Rejoice! To me it's just the thing I don't like for the trend in the industry, like you don't necessarily like the FI cars.

Who the hell dislikes turbos? They are sent from the GODS THEMSELVES. Allowing average joe shmoe over here to make tremendous amount of power on the cheap! Plus dem sounds. Oh what, no external wastegate.

It's kind of funny. I think push button starts have actually been around since at least the 1940s. They date back a long way.

That's an issue you'll have to take up with K-Roll not me, I like turbo.

Oh I know, Imma have to beat some ass! Well not really, but who hates turbos!?!? I mean on a racecar, NA is amazing. But on a road car, you can't beat a turbo.

I hate having to get all the way into the car just to start it so it warms up while I go back in the house. Being able to lean in, start it without having to sit down is a huge bonus. Keys for sure.

That's why you get a key with remote start! Don't even have to go outside to start it!

That's true. I'm pretty sure at one point keys were considered an innovation because they were more secure than push button starters. The difference is the modern push button starters still require a key, but that key talks to the car wirelessly.
In the case of my BMW, the key stores a bunch of data about the car. The first time I took it in for an oil change, the service advisor asked for my key, then plugged it in to a cradle and got the mileage and some other info off the key. I was like Keanu in the Matrix: whoa .

Honestly, I don't miss it at all. Button starts always felt like the future to me, and when I finally got a car with one, I dug it. Even though my car's tech is pre-iPhone, it's still way more than I'm used to.
When it comes to classics, it's a very different story. But for the daily drivers... No contest. Gimme all the tech you can muster. As long as it works.

Get on Aston Martin's level, their key IS a pushbutton. An "emotion control unit".

Its sorta a push button. And a key. And a kill switch. And two toggles for fans and fuel.
Kill switch on, key on. Fuel pump and fans on. Then press the little black button in the middle to light it off.
The best of evertthing. Feels like starting a fighter jet.

If you want to turn the key, many pushbuttons are removable so you can still start the car when the fob battery dies. Pop the button out, insert the fob and turn it like a real key.
