NASCAR uses a Jherico 4 speed transmission. Lift to shift, blip to downshift. Not too often is the clutch actually used..

I'm actually surprised that he doesn't heel-toe. Most "professional road-racers" use that method

when downshifting Yes, with a transmission that neneeds clutching. This one does not. Bopping the gas on the way down gaps the gears enough to shift. Left foot braking is plain faster around a course. Time lost moving between pedals is time not on te gas or on the brake.

Not really since most sports cars are paddle shift now so the clutch is really only used to leave the pit box.
