I've been thinking lately that "man, wouldn't it be great if I sold the Miata and got a Prelude/ Integra/ EK hatch/ CRX/ Del Slow
The answer, of course, is no, but tell me why those cars are trash and that's a bad idea anyway.

CRX's are awesome, del Sol's suck because they're front-wheel-drive even though they clearly look mid-engined.

hard to find one in good condition, unless you buy rice and de-rice it
but engine are often flogged to crap and have been owned by wanna be street racers with no budget for even an oil change

del sol shoulda been RWD, no sense trading an excellent RWD platform for a wanna be

prelude has too long of a hood to not have a longitudinal engine under it

Prelude - last gen is best gen, but even those are still FWD
Integra - you only want the Type R, and spending over $10k on a decades-old Acura isn't smart
EK hatch - Only came with pedestrian engines, was an econobox.
CRX - either beat to shit and cheap, or clean and expensive
Del Slow - possibly more feminine than the Miata
*I pulled these facts right out of my asshole.

you SHOULD get a CRX! all the same qualities you love in the miata as a daily and light track day fun but with a fixed roof and slightly more room to carry track tyres.
but, rust, and mods... best of luck finding one.
plus you'll just want to swap the engine anyway, and that work you don't need to do to appreciate your existing car

I'm scared of Del Slows after I saw what happened to my friends'. He went to start it up one morning and it actually fired a piston THROUGH THE FUCKING SIDE OF THE CAR. Okay, not completely through, but it left the block and dented the side of the engine compartment really bad. Then he bought a string of terrible cars, including my old Celica GT-Four.

Prelude: to what? An Accord? A real car?
Integra: ok mister fast and furious guy. When do you graduate high school?
EK hatch: Go ahead. It's only a matter of time before you're the illest bro high-centered on a small rock
CRX: Well at least there's some cred here
Del Sol: I didn't know you had aspirations to become the number one real estate agent in the Tri City Area, just don't forget you have to pay chair rent at the salon next week.

The biggest problems you'll find with 90s Hondas are the idiots that bought them and beat the bloody hell out of them. I'd extend this to DSMs as well. MK3 GTIs will be easier to find in decent shape as an alternative of the same vintage.
The price : value ratio just isn't there.

I live in Florida so rust and drop tops are non issues. Honestly I'd probably buy an HF if i ever found one. I'd put up with 70 hp if i got 45 mpg.

Like I said, im not actually going to buy one. I just wish i knew a guy with a garage full of 90s Hondas i could beat the shit out of.
