The '99 Ranger has been acting up here and there after the engine replacment. Stalling and tranny sometimes slips so I caved and let her get a new(to us) car Saturday. Ignore the crappy pictures. I'll get some better ones.
It's a 2012 Juke SL AWD. I'm somewhat concerned about the CVT transmission in it, but after searching for issues on it, I really have not found a lot of them.
I'll give a review at some point in the near future if she will let me drive it.
Bonus pic - drove the Ranger in today to 'see' what it is doing.... Not a issue at all on the way in. 240,001 miles!

She said she was getting 30mpg on the way in to work this morning. And I think it's got enough pep to get out of the way if she needs it.

I don't think there's really anything wrong with CVT's functionally.
I think most of us just put them down because of the extreme lack of fun

Well that's good to hear. I don't dd it and she is rarely in the mood....(to practice driving a manual) so no loss then.

'99 Rangers sure are good little runners. They just keep going no matter what.
A CVT sounds like a cool item, I'm curious if they are cool enough to make you forget you are inside an abomination like a Juke?

Not gonna lie, I'm not a huge fan of the look of the Juke, but congrats! If it's got what you and the missus are looking for, that's what matters. White is a good color for it, I'm not gonna lie.

Haha. White was her absolute last pick for color, we got a really good deal on it. She's already Ok'd me to matte black vinyl wrap it with some lime green stripes.

yep. I only cut them off my list when shopping a few years ago because it's nice to hear the engine hit some higher RPMS for once, you know, really get into it.

Stalling and tranny slip issues after engine rebuild on a Ranger you say?! Has anyone heard anything else about this happening because I have the exact same issue! Engine was rebuilt at 138,000, stalls randomly when at idle and very rarely has trans slip issues.
I've replaced a ton of sensors and the #2 cylinder spark plug due to slight build up of some white crud and nothing has stopped the stalling.

Congrats! My wife and have been looking at replacing her Corrola with a Juke. I'm showing her this when I get home.

Will it idle rough and damn near die if you are in Park and turn the steering wheel? Like the power steering pump demands more load than the engine can produce? the trans slip is super rare, but when it happens while I'm driving I get that asspucker knowing I'm about to do some walking and then it just works itself out like 10 seconds later.

I ensured she got the touchscreen radio with navigation. The climate control below the radio also allows you to select the drive mode eco/sport/normal - I assume it just changes the boost psi somehow, but she has been putting it in eco once on the highway and said yesterday she was getting 33mpg on the way home.
We also live in a pretty rural area and she drives 125mi a day. So like 70% of her drive is all highway and the rest is city.

Yea, I don't think I could drive this as my primary car, but she loves it so far.

yessir. Mine drives a Jeep Commander, she's obsessed with Jeeps now.

my idle isn't that rough. The RPMs just bounced from 600-1000 every few seconds and eventually it just violently stalls. It's usually when I'm running the A/C.

My wife is huge fan of wranglers, not much else in the jeep line. Her mother has a Liberty that she has driven extensively and is far from her first choice and her father has a grand cherokee which I believe something is not quite right with his steering as it feels very heavy. Not to mention all the issues he has had with the ecu. I've driven other cherokees and they are fine. I'll keep my camaro though.

I'd keep the Camaro too lol.
She's on her second Jeep, first was a 1st Gen Bubble Liberty. Which (god only know's why) she loved. ECU issue on that one, had to be replaced, then flashed twice.
When it came time to replace that one I said what do you want to look into? her answer was anything the same size or bigger that says JEEP on it.
She's now committed to the Commander until she can afford a 4 door Wrangler. Even if that's 10 years lol

Yea that's what my wife was looking at, the 4dr Wranglers, but the mpg is so bad. I know the Juke was not her first choice but it's prob the best all around choice.

Yeah, as much as I dislike Diesels - she's hoping the mythical diesel Wrangler will come out in that time, the estimates if they put one together is 28 hwy. That's a huge step up from her V6 Commander 4x4 which gets...18 I think...
