trying to configure a virtual network for one of my classes, and what seems like it should be the simplest thing to do is turning out to be a major pain. I need to get the IP address Subnet Mask and the interfaces for the router, but all the commands I know haven't worked and I'm stuck now.
Edit:
I only have a fairly limited set of commands available to use in the virtual environment.
here's what I have to work with:

I guess you've tried show running-config
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/doc…
Don't know if you've read this.. easier that way.

Then I can't help you mate :( I'm used to have the manual for said router in front of me when working on them (in case something goes wrong)).

You have to type "ena" — get into enable mode, first, then show running config

yup. that being said, since you're just learning.. "ena" you can just type "enable" as it just autofills the command for you.
sh ip int brief
=
show ip interface brief

I was one level too far past the command I needed. Of course they don't make it so I can use lower level commands in the higher levels

I don't know anything about any of the first part, but I'm checking out a GC8 today ('96, V3). Can you tell me about them in brief? Would you buy one used with a relatively unknown history if it runs ok? Which version was yours?

mine was a 99 2.5RS. as a warning the NA EJ25 engine is a horrible platform prone to head gasket failure. My timing belt failed at about 95K miles which was the second time it was replaced and the head gaskets failed shortly after, then the timing cog on the crank came loose and took a chunk out of the crank shaft shortly after, so as far as the engine goes avoid the 2.5's. working on it though is pretty easy and most Subaru parts are plug and play. I managed to do all the mechanical parts of and engine swap in about a month and a half working only for a few hours on the weekends. as far as handling goes it's one of the better Impreza chassis being lighter than the newer models. Really though the U.S. GC's are a good starting point for a project car and the biggest thing to do is an STi swap, I just recommend having the time and money to get it finished all sorted out because I had to give up on mine when i moved over 100 miles a way from where I was keeping it and have never had the chance to finish it and my current financial situation is forcing me to have to sell it as is. Overall theyre a good starting point to make something better.

Oh sorry thought that was a ej20. I know about the 2.5's (I pity you) and the car I'm looking at is a jdm sti . Cool looking car either way. Thanks for getting back to me.

Ottermann on Whitenoise may be able to help. He's got network gear coming out of his ears when he isn't shooting up clay things or cooking white trash cuisine (I kid on the last. I'd eat that in a heartbeat.)
