I Wanted To Feel Better About The Crossfire

Inspired by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! post (nice name BTW). I was even less biased though by putting the weight in there.

Sidenotes: The BRZ/FRS's torque comes in super high up the rev range & the Crossfire's axle ratio seems super low. If I found the right number that is.

3,000 pounds is not bad these days, tbh.

That low end power on the Crossfire probably makes a pretty big difference in daily driving.

I'd say so, but I can also see the argument that its more fun/you have to rev out the BRZ.

oh of course. I've just been making fun of the BRZ/FRS's capabilities since it came out.

Shit, throw my Mercury Milan into the mix and it changes:

221 hp

205 torque

You are missing a key piece of data though. On the subaru side you can put down "Not a chrysler product" but for the crossfire you have to say "Chrysler/Mercedes hybrid product of the early 2000s" and that might as well say "the fact that this is still on the road a decade later could be used as evidence of an almighty deity"

Ugh. Not as a daily. Had to do that shit in my old Accord. Felt about the same down low as my old Accord too when I drove it.

I often think that people who find ringing out the engine to get anywhere "fun" have never really experienced a torquey motor.

Power high in the rev range on a sporty weekend car is great fun, but youre so right on it being bad in a daily. My girlfriends car has 0 power below 3000rpm and a bit more power (but still not much) at 5500. Revving the nuts off it constantly gets very tiring, the thing is at 4000rpm on the motorway.

I think it'd be fun on track or a twisty road to have to wring it out, but for daily driving low down torque is a lot nicer. I'd sooner it was built for a little less hp and have decent torque at around 3000rpm than the way it is now.

Thats why I bought a diesel for day to day driving, low down torque makes town driving a lot more relaxing. The petrol version of my car has half the torque, test drove one and it got old pretty fast.

Kinja'd!!! Milky > themanwithsauce - has as many vehicles as job titles
10/20/2014 at 10:34

Kinja'd!!!0

Point was that the transmission can easily handle 600+ lb ft to torque and therefore my 229 has no effect on it. Not to mention the engine is pretty basic too, no over head cams, timing chain not belt, etc.

Say what you want about the electronics in the car, but the drivetrain is strong.

WHY IS YOUR HATE SAUCE SO STRONG THIS EARLY?!

It had 10 less hp too. 0-60 in about 15 or 16 seconds. Everything required a lot of forward planning. It got worse mileage than my car as well, getting the diesel was an easy choice to make...

Haha, my father in law had an 03 taurus for a while.

I assure you it's a better car than an 03 taurus. Size is relatively comparable, though I feel like the Taurus was wider, that may have been the fact that he had bench seats though.
