We did, actually. From 1957-61, the Vauxhall Victor was sold by Pontiac dealers. It failed and GM contented itself with selling Opels at Buick dealerships.

They only sold about 27,000 total in the US plus another 40,000 in Canada, so they were never common. They rusted really badly, even by the standards of the time. There was something of a scandal that developed around 1960-1961 when the front subframes in road salt states started failing after only a year or two and the cars started basically cracking in two around the firewall. I doubt many survived on the roads beyond about 1969.
