I can't seem to remove the rails without a grinder (there are welded beads that keep them from falling off) so what I did is put the rails in the center so it won't protrude much. The next step is to screw a piece of cut plywood and attach it to the rails to mount the base (from an old office chair) on. I removed the bar to move the rails manually. I will attach a beam running across the plywood for added reinforcement.
My only question is about drilling holes into the rails. See the diagram.

Will the screw hold? I'm not sure if I can drill through the track itself.

I think the metal for the rails will hold. You'll probably need a pretty heavy duty drill bit to get through it, though. Try keeping the bit cool by keeping it wet with WD-40 or Aerokroil.

I would recommend bolting the wood to where the seat would bolt to the floor of the car. You would still have all the functionality of the seat and you could mount everything the wood.

I would use your judgement. What kind of screws are you using? The rail is pretty thick, so it would depend on how much thread engagement you are getting and how much strain you are putting on it.

I would not use those to go into metal. Use metal screws to hold the wood to the metal.

I think I'm better off welding it together. But I need to find a place to weld and steel.

Unfortunately I no longer have access to a welder.
