I think this speaks more to the fact that many Youtube commenters are assholes. The only not-specifically-political major website with worse commenters is Yahoo.

Yahoo is, to me, above youtube. It always seems that someone drops in from the Beta Galaxy to argue about "GODDAMN MEXICANS" in a news story about what the best cake is.
Or then there's the stories that Yahoo always did about "The 10 worst things you can say in an interview", which are just the exact same things as "The 10 best things you can say in an interview." Both are reasons I just stopped going to Yahoo for any news or sports, as well as the random stupid fucking ads that destroyed my browser.
