Me: I need a Yamaha

Girl: why a yamaha?

Me: because I can't afford the maintenance on a ducati and I don't want a speed triple triumph right now

Girl: I can understand that. Given electrical fires but why no Kawasaki?

Me: everyone has one

Girl: yeah, my boyfriend has a Kawi

Me: FML

Change that to Jeeps and that's pretty much what happens whenever I show up with the XJ to wheel. Also audible moans when they find out you work on your own rig. Y'all some animals.

Imagine how bad it would be financially if we married girls who loved cars as much as us.

Husband: "hey babe what do you think about getting the little one organic baby food instead of the regular stuff?"

Wife: "nah that's gonna make it harder to save for dat 928 GTS"

Husband: "no just deal with it. We're gonna get your 911 new Pilot Super Sports this month, remember?"

We drove an E55 today. It would clearly be a shared questionable decision.

nice. Standard or supercharged?

Kinja'd!!! Conan > Manuél Ferrari

Supercharged so obviously a much worse and fun decision. In the end the suspension bothered us or we might've considered it. The price was excellent.

Vehicle is here. I should've been more suspicious when they were already talking price drop before I'd driven it, but we had to be in North Carolina to drop off something from the wine festival anyways. Was a fun side activity. http://javaautosale.com/2003-MercedesB…

I'm thinking of buying a Triumph, but only because I can't afford a BMW, and I don't want to die. And I don't want to buy anything from Japan.

It sounds like you want a bigger bike so I would say speed triple or speed four. Maybe a Daytona if you want to go insane amounts of fast.

That would have been so sweet if it was a clean car at that price

Kinja'd!!! His Stigness > Vince-The Roadside Mechanic

I actually don't want insane amounts of power because I don't want to kill myself. I just want something that's not Japanese and is something I think looks cool.

He's only considered a Jeep guy if you consider that abomination a Jeep..... They have not one but TWO trail rated badges on them. My wrangler has one. And trail scars. And its my daily driver.

Ive seen one cool land rover running around town. Looks like its up for an adventure so mayyyybe...... But I need someone who wheels.

Kinja'd!!! Vince-The Roadside Mechanic > His Stigness

I think an early speed triple meets that description. It has some good power but you can drive it every day and not kill yourself.

Are Triumphs reliable though? I mean, they are British.

Kinja'd!!! Vince-The Roadside Mechanic > His Stigness
10/13/2014 at 23:59

Overall NO older ones are an electrical fire between your legs. But this one is ok as far as reliability.

Kinja'd!!! His Stigness > Vince-The Roadside Mechanic
10/14/2014 at 01:08

Kinja'd!!!1

Just ok? Sounds like it's right up my alley!

How similar are bikes to cars though in terms of fixing them?

Kinja'd!!! Vince-The Roadside Mechanic > His Stigness
10/14/2014 at 07:20

Kinja'd!!!0

Well you need to learn how to work on carbs which is pretty simple. Transmission work is easier due to a smaller tranny and the L engine layout like this is different than cars but overall motorcycles are simpler than cars.

Kinja'd!!! His Stigness > Vince-The Roadside Mechanic
10/14/2014 at 13:01

Kinja'd!!!0

Well I'm going to probably get a new bike, so it's modern and more reliable, so no carbs, MUWAHAHAHAHHAHA

Kinja'd!!! Vince-The Roadside Mechanic > His Stigness
10/14/2014 at 17:07

Kinja'd!!!0

That triumph I showed you has carbs and it is considered modern.

Kinja'd!!!0

Good point. But I'm looking at brand new bikes for now. A new Speed Triple is pretty sweet, and reasonably priced at $9,400, and it's got a healthy 100hp, which shouldn't kill me. I was also looking at the Triumph Daytona 675, but it's 11k and has 130hp, which is a lot. I've got to ride some bikes though and talk to more people that have ridden them.

Kinja'd!!! Vince-The Roadside Mechanic > His Stigness

If this is your first bike I would get a used one.

Kinja'd!!! His Stigness > Vince-The Roadside Mechanic
10/14/2014 at 20:07

Well that would be the smarter thing to do wouldn't it? But remember what cars I like?

Kinja'd!!! Vince-The Roadside Mechanic > His Stigness
10/14/2014 at 20:18

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah but have you ever ridden a motorcycle for a long time? What if you don't like it? And won't that disagree with your hip?

Kinja'd!!! His Stigness > Vince-The Roadside Mechanic
10/14/2014 at 21:43

Kinja'd!!!0

I haven't ridden a bike before, but I'm going to get my permit and learn how to ride a bike. So we'll see how it goes.

Kinja'd!!! Vince-The Roadside Mechanic > His Stigness
10/14/2014 at 22:15

Kinja'd!!!0

I don't mean to say your wrong or say it isn't for you but on paper it seems like you are gonna hate it.

But just take this bit of wisdom handed down my family start riding on a cheap bike and if you like it sell it and buy a new bike if you hate it then sell the cheap bike. May I sudgest a ninja because its style is a little like the triumph?

Kinja'd!!! His Stigness > Vince-The Roadside Mechanic
10/14/2014 at 23:35

Kinja'd!!!0

I've ridden fast road bikes for years though and love it, but I know motorcycles are a different thing. Like I said, we'll see how it goes when I learn to ride. The main point of this is so I learn how to ride, I'm embarking on a quest to learn how to drive anything with wheels.

I've heard this advice too. The other thing I'm told to consider too is how much bike is it. But I've been talking to some people and they've advised against me getting a "beginners" bike because I'll just grow out of it too quickly.

I believe mr, Regular talked about beginner bikes. Maybe get one he recommends?

I don't want a beginner bike though, I want something in between a beginner and an expert bike.
