GF had hinted about this a ways back, so I got it for her for our 10th anniversary. 1954 Gojira - watch the original movie (and the '55 and '56 sequels) if you haven't:

$150 bucks or so for the vinyl figure (Toho Studio approved!), and I still had to heat the tail up with a hair dryer (their instructions) to insert it into the ... um, rear end of the monster.

Damn that's expensive! Looks really good though. I need to get the original and watch it. I've seen several of the later ones and enjoy them. The campy-ness is always fun.

How much do you spend for your 10th anniversary? Whatever it takes.
'54 Gojira is genuinely scary. '55 sequel is not as good, but watch it. '56 Godzilla, King of the Monsters , is essentially the '54 movie remade, but with Raymond Burr (BIG GAY RAY, yes he was) to explain it to white people. Poor, closeted Raymond Burr, forced to live a lie - but hey, he was Perry Mason. And Ironsides. Watch all three (Netflix accessible) then we'll talk.

Gojira is one helluva flick. Godzilla Raids Again was rubbish, and King of the Monsters just has Raymond Burr; and they took out some good stuff.
I'd skip those two and go straight to G vs. KK

You might be right, but I am one of those knuckleheads who watches every episode of whatever ... still, the Raymond Burr 'remake' has it's camp value.

I've seen every Godzilla film, and if there's one thing I've learned, NEVER WATCH SON OF GODZILLA! Burr is better than that flick.

It'll be a "great" watch. -_-
But if you do watch it, report back to me with your opinion.

I had no idea the 54 movie was on Netflix. Is it on instant, or just the DVD service. I only have the streaming.
I'm excited to watch the original. I really want to pick up the special edition blu-ray.

'54 is disc only, but I'm sure you can spend a couple bucks on amazon and get it ... '55 and '56 movies on Netflix instant, if memory serves.
