Ijust applied to App State. I think you folks will find it agreeable- the Blue Ridge Parkway is right in the backyard, the Tail of the Dragon is not too far away, and it's got an Industrial Design degree. However, to complete my application, I have to turn in SAT scores- and ya'll know how difficult the SAT is.
I take it tommorow.

SAT really isn't that difficult. Not trying to sound pretentious.

Take it twice.
I took the ACT twice and did significantly better the second time, simply because I was more familiar with it.
The practice tests can't adequately simulate the actual thing.

good luck. I took it still half drunk from the night before and unstudied for (I got snowed in 2 hours away from the testing center while visiting some friends at UCONN, had to wake up early and make the drive) - got almost 1400. Studied, took it seriously, retook it and got almost 1300. Go with your instinct is my advice here. Don't overthink answers.

Dude! The SAT is not difficult! Just keep a cool head and try to finish everything. Read closely, be attentive...all that stuff. You should also take a bunch of practice tests to familiarize yourself with the format.
Also, don't be afraid to re-take it. A lot of the time, you see a big score improvement!

I got a 1500 (700M/800V) on the old two-part SAT. Turns out, my "scholastic aptitude" is great, it's my study skills that suck.
I'm (loosely) in the area, and I have a younger brother going EE at Western Carolina.

I thought the ACT was easier. Only took it once, killed it.

It's mostly algebra.
I still bombed the math part >.>

I took it like 8 years ago, but if I remember correctly, no. Only basic algebra and trig.

I'm debating whether or not I should take it again, since future employers and/or grad schools might look at it.

App? App?! Boooo!
Just kidding. I went to Wofford, little bit of bad blood between the football teams from when I was there a couple years ago (read: they destroyed us). App is a really good school. Two of my best professors at Wofford graduated from App.
Good luck on the SAT, it's not as bad as it may seem. Just relax and take your time (but not too much time since it is timed...).

Grad schools don't care. They only care about GRE/ MCAT/ GMAT or whatever test is relevant. What did you get? If it's a good score, just stick with it.

29. Good, but not great. The math section is why I don't have a 32 or so.
I'm mostly worried about employers looking at it, since they look at everything nowadays.

Yeah, junior.
I'm on track to graduate with departmental honors from a good university, so I think I'm good, but I'd still like to bump that over 30.

Junior??? Dude, absolutely do not take it again, total waste. Focus on whatever test you will need for grad school?

Like everyone else says, don't over think it. It's not that hard. Yes, it's long...but not something to worry about. Don't blow it off...get good sleep the night before, eat breakfast and trust your instincts. You'll do fine.

SAT is a standardized test...nothing more, nothing less. Unless you really dislike filling in bubbles on a scantron sheet you're fine.
Seriously.
It's nothing to be concerned about.
And a retest is fine because schools take the best scores from both to give you a combined SAT score!
