I'M JEEPLESS AND NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF! First the red Wrangler grenades its driveshaft, now the blue one has decided that brakes are Passé.

It's a Jeep. Take the Wrangler brakes and bolt them on to the blue one.

what happened to the brakes? The lines explode? I had that happen to me in my old wrangler. It was exciting, as I was driving.

Catastrophic loss of all brake boost. It's like driving an old car with 4-wheel unassisted drum brakes. Only the last inch or so of pedal travel does anything and you have to push HARD.

But the blue one is a pile of junk. I don't want the blue one.

whats the fluid level like? If just the booster stopped working, the whole stroke should be harder. *I am pretty familiar with brake systems, I have a master cylinder sitting on my desk at the moment.*

All Jeeps are essentially piles of junk. The question is, how much of it is still bolted together and working?

Take the brakes from the red one and put them on the blue one, or the drive shaft from the blue one put onto the red one.

or, you could just mount the red one on the blue one and hope a little baby jeep comes out with no broken parts. (thats how jeeps are made, right?)

Drive the blue one, and tow someone else driving the red one for brakes. That way you can stop, and it'll be like driving one big jeep everywhere.

I dunno. The reservoir isn't a bottle, it's this weird thing and it's so corroded I can't get it open. I inspected all the fittings for signs of a leak but there's nothing. And I don't think I lost a brake line. Whatever happened is affecting all the brakes.

Okay, then, the blue Jeep is more of a pile of junk than the red one.

Damn.

Also, most salvage yards have someone that can make drive shafts.

I am very familiar with that thing. You gotta take a screw driver and pop that metal retainer to the side. It takes a good deal of force. The top will come off ant there is a big rubber gasket floppy deal on the inside. Just try not to drop ant rust in there. Its worth a check, just as a matter of maintenance.

The drive shaft itself is fine, but the U-joint snapped at the slip yoke.

Blue jeep is just MADE of rust. If you kick hard enough you could put your foot through the floor, and I'm too scared to look at the frame.

Does the retainer come off to the left or the right?

it should go either way, but popping it to the right should be easier. It looks like there is a thing in the way to the left, so definitely go to the right.
