Yeah he says $800 firm but its been on CL for months. Dear lord I need cash. Being 18 in college with a shitty schedule is the suk. I applied about 30 times this summer with no luck, not even so much as an email back. Fucking annoying.

get a job ya bum. j/k kinda. I got a bunch of extra cash from little stuff on craigslist like drawing a set of plans for a deck, finishing basements stuff like that as a contractors assistant. It was pretty funny riding the T from diggin out a basement and some suit having to sit next to me then goin to class a mess.

I have some vintage-ish computers and nonsense to get rid of, but I doubt I'll get much for it. A high-end 486DX2, a Pentium I "gaming machine", some oddball keyboards (one that is an AT keyboard with a serial touchpad on it), and a buttload of periphial boards (ISA and PCI) but going through and posting it all on CL and eBay is going to be a huge pain.

Worth noting I applied 20 times over the course of the summer and only once did I get so much as an email back. I got an impressive ACT score, my grades are in the top third of my class, and I have a SHIT LOAD of community service, public speaking, leadership, etc. on my resume. I don't get it. Part of it might be that I absolutely refuse to work in the food service industry, and some joint issues make it infeasible for me to remain standing through a shift, but damn.

Oh god no. I had McDonalds once, ONCE, and it made me sick for two days. Now the mere smell of a diabeetusburger makes me nauseous (or any fast food, really).
I'd like to do retail or something, but I've applied dozens of times to places and not heard back from hardly any of them.

The smell and the people you have to deal with would probably make me kill myself before I get $800, haha. Especially in Kansas, ugh. Walmarttians and McDonalds-lovers are some of the most deplorable characters you've ever seen.

I'm checking to see if a local computer place will hire me given that the guy that does most of the work there now is an incompetent idiot who reeks of cigarette smoke and looks like a child molestor. I've done independent work for them before, so I'm hopeful.

Nah, just thought it could be a sufficient motivation.
But seriously, if you are even remotely capable of using your own 2 hands, repairing this baby should be easy.
Then it's a matter of seeing how well she runs, and then enjoying the ride. These thing handles ''okay'', but the comfort is supreme. Plus, that superchaged 3800 is a jewel of an engine, and it respond well to mods.

Yup. I'm hoping it's a bit less wallowey than the suspension on my LeSabre, which I just noticed today needs the 3rd gear and 4th gear clutches replaced and, basically, screw that.
If I do get a supercharged Riviera (and HNNNG), I'll probably just put on a new intake, smaller pulley, and a tune so it can take advantage of it better. I'll probably also force the transmission to never shift on its own so I can decide which gear I'd like to be in (does the shifter have D/3/2/1 like my LeSabre does?) on my own instead of waiting for it to come to a decision. I swear those 3800SII's transmissions air-mail throttle inputs to China and back in order to get shift instructions.

I doubt the suspension are firmer, but body roll may be less of an issue than your lesabre (I actually used that picture of your car at the autoX to explain body roll to a friend. It's pretty useful!).
There are shift kit for those transmission that work superbly well. I saw a supercharged 3800 Grand Prix running down the quarter mile and shifting at PDK speed. good for high 12s. (I also saw that same car eating blowing said transmission, but hey.)

(I actually used that picture of your car at the autoX to explain body roll to a friend. It's pretty useful!).
That is glorious.
A simple tune to increase line pressure and decrease shift times helped immensely with my ancient transmission. I imagine it'll work even better on one that hasn't been around the block so many times.

It probably did not help with the gear clutches problem, though...

From what I've read it's better from the clutches because they're engaging/disengaging quicker, instead of slowly engaging and disengaging and purposely creating slip in order to have "smoother" shifts.
Then again I still think autos run on pure fairy dust.

yeah but if they went XXX XXX number of miles at the same speed, and then suddenly they doubled in harshness, that might have put extra stress on the turbo encabulator.
They are not that hard to understand, actually. Rockwell has done a sweet job explaining it:
(I have no idea how an auto work either)
