It's like being in the skies above Britain during World War 2 in a Spitfire chasing down the Luftwaffe. That's what the F Type Coupe R is like. Not because I was chasing down a BMW M4 or anything, but because of the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! coming from the back!

Last week I had the opportunity to drive a bunch of really awesome, really fast cars as part of a journalist association rally. Manufacturers turned out in droves to bring a total of 80 of their all new cars for us to drive. I know, I've got a pretty great job.

Holy crap, poor Sennheiser!!!

*note to self*

Whenever recording exhaust note with a fluffy dead cat over an awesome Sennheiser shotgun, make sure it's far enough so it won't catch fire.

New one has been ordered and will be tried out this weekend by a tuned 700hp Mercedes E63. Will have to be a bit more cautious this time.

Out of curiosity: I believe you had the microphone at an 45 degree angle a foot away from the exhaust (that's what most people do, at least). If you had it sideways instead of above, would it not be able to catch the sound almost just as well?

Right, it's a directional mic, it would have picked up all the wind rushing past the car.
