I left my parents house and noticed a check engine light after remote starting and pulled up the Torque app on my phone to reveal an intermittent missfire. I restarted the engine after clearing the code to be presented with a flashing check engine. This may be it. I had a hickup a few weeks back where the engine hit 3k like it was hitting a rev limiter and created an oddball fault code. So she may finally be trying to tell me her time isn't long for this world. Thankfully she's only a weekend warrior as my weekday traveling is done with my work van.

The HID retrofit I'll remove and hang onto since the headlights were <$100 and I'll put the old headlights back in. Out will come all the interior lighting as well.

It's a shame and making me really upset right now. I may need some kind words to help me through this. She's been my temperamental baby for the past 7 years. :(

It only has 80,000 miles!

Then again, it's a Chrysler 2.7 V6.

fortunately it's a post-sludge era 2.7 but from what I've read they're only good for maybe 100k miles

Bad coil pack would be my guess.

Sounds like a coil pack. Did it mention what cylinder you have a misfire in?

I believe it was Px0000 so not sure which coil pack it was specifically. I read a forum that said the #3 is prone to failure so I may pick up a replacement a see if that helps (or go down the line and hopefully one of them clears up the issue). Even if resolved this is enough to convince me to sell. I planned on waiting til the end of 2015 to buy but I can't go selling it if anything else goes wrong.

Sounds like a Chrysler specific code. Try swapping the coil packs first and see if the code changes any.

I've been there, My dad's BMW had a bad coil on cyl 2, and randomly started misfiring. Like others have suggested, try swapping the coil packs.

Check the coil packs. My mechanic determined that was the problem with my car within 5 seconds by disconnecting the spark plug wires from the coil one at a time and seeing if they arced from the coil or not. One coil had weak spark; replaced it and all was well
