"Lesser of two evils" edition - I've promised a friend that I'd teach them to drive stick. I have access to two manual vehicles, both of which are probably the worst possible cars to learn on, each for their own reasons. I need you guys to tell me which one to use!
First car: 6-cyl YJ Wrangler
Pros: great torque, so easy to launch and impossible to stall (It's basically driveable at idle)
Cons: Clutch weighs 7.395*10 6 lbs, Shift forks are messed up so takes extreme force to engage 1st and 3rd gear
Second car: 4-cyl YJ Wrangler
Pros: light clutch, gearbox works properly
Cons: High stall RPM, clutch bite point not well defined, no synchro in 3rd. Also no speedo.

Numero uno seems best.

I'd go with the first.

Go with the red one. The hardest part of learning stick is clutch engagement point finesse imo and stalling can be traumatizing for first timers. Eventually have them learn on both. Just start with the red one.

Why not both? Use #1 to teach them about clutch bite point and getting the car moving to eliminate the fear of stalling, then move on to #2 to get some shifting done.

Use the torque of the inline six. The TJ in my yard you just put in first and slowly lift off the clutch, perfect way to show clutch engagement point.

I would suggest the second one. Torque is easier to get things going, of course, but explaining what happens theoretically is way easier with that 4-cylinder and a few stalls. And double-(de-)clutching for 3rd: This is by far the best learning tool around!
