Okay so some if not most of us are aware there has been a bit of an incident in Argentina, namely in that the Porsche driven by Clarkson had a licence plate with H982FKL and some idiotic journalist trying to stir up controversy with a brain-fart they had in that in pointed to the 1982 war in The Falkland Islands.
As of a few minutes ago the BBC posted up news that the Top Gear team has had to abandon the vehicles at the side of the road in Argentina and leave Argentina after the vehicles and support crew came under attack. Filming had been stopped after local permits were not given and protests outside the hotel where they were staying.

"The cast and crew of TV's Top Gear have had to flee Argentina after they were pelted with stones by a crowd incensed that one of their vehicles had a number plate that appeared to refer to the Falklands conflict."
"A group of war veterans protested outside the British crew's hotel in Ushuaia and one local politician said they were escorted to the airport, reportedly flying out of the area three days early. Local press reported that one of the Top Gear team was injured, apparently an Argentinian hired to assist them.
A receptionist at Ushuaia's five-star Arakur hotel, where the crew were staying, said police were called to clear their hotel lobby after it was invaded by angry war veterans. Martin Marcilla said: "They were very tense moments. The war veterans were furious and shouting insults. Police had to remove them. Luckily things didn't get too out of hand."
For goodness sakes. I dare say even the most ardent conspiracy theorists are shouting at their TVs 'oh come on really!'.
This is getting rapidly tiresome.

Its just the argentinians making a fool of themselves.
Apparently, someone at one point said: oh yea, and one of the other cars had 266 in its plate #. this is close enough to the 259 british soliders who died in the falklands war
like really? come on guys, your just being stupid and butt-hurt.

According to The Guardian a member of the crew said "We're leaving them here, we don't want any more problems, set fire to them if you like, but we're getting out of here,".
So I think it's fair to say, if you want it, go get it.

That Mustang was such a damn good looking car. Its a shame what happened to all of the cars, not to mention the situation in general. Its just ridiculous.

They're totally butt hurt. So bizarre. I guess when you've got nothing recognizable but Fat Diego and Dead Che, you embrace the tragedy of a thorough asskicking from the Reagan era.

Unfortunately when they makes fools of themselves it stirs up a non topic and it's our fault.

It's beyond ridiculous. I can't even get my head around how ridiculous it is.
It'll probably roll on for a while and the Argentinian government will get in on it and it'll be brought up at a UN meeting again or something or the British Ambassador will be summoned to apologise, yarda yarda yarda.

I dare say give it time. You better be quick.

Welp, I suppose it helped distract the lunatic fringe of Argentinian society from Kirchner's latest antics. If she and said fringe were distinguishable in the first place.
I think the Argentinians responsible just made themselves an even greater laughing stock to the rest of the British for acting like this.

Especially as it follows the U.S. courts finding Argentina in contempt of court on it's ruling to repay its debt back (even though the hedge funds that bought some of the debt at 30% are now wanting 100% back is a little douchie before the other investors).

Can I apologise for my country sinking the USS Pheonix (General Belgrano) during the conflict in 1982. The ship that survived Pearl Harbor being the only vessel not to of been damaged, was sunk by a British nuclear submarine HMS Conqueror and is the only ship to of been sunk by nuclear-powered sub during conflict.
History is amazing how these things are all interconnected.

Well c'mon that plate is too coincidental.

I've checked some of the history of the car. It's the genuine original plate. The car also was not chosen by the presenters themselves.
So unless someone on the crew had planned it which is quite a feat or it is incredibly coincidental and people are looking far to far into it.

That is one hell of a coincidence. I know that's what I would see.

I'm going to sit on the fence a while to be honest about whether it was planned or not but the reaction is way OTT.
