I'm reposting this because it's important and I only got one response.
I'm working on the Common Application (woo!) and I just had an idea. There is an option in Activies to put "Journalism/Publication."
Here's my thought. Maybe I could put Oppositelock down as the organization? Writing here is one of my hobbies, and I truly enjoy it. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't fit here. It's for whatever you do outside school, right? I do this outside school. Well, not all the time, but quite a bit.
Here's a Mustang convertible outside one of my neighbor's house. Also, my Common App essay is about cars, and Oppositelock is mentioned as well!

Just finished up my last college visit today; out of the 5 I've been to not one has required an essay. I also refuse to use the common app. But you gave me a great idea, never even thought about oppo and jalop as an interest.

Interesting idea. I'm working on the Common App now as well and didn't think to put that. I'll sit on that idea and see if it is important enough to put in (you can only put 10 activities?).

No, I'm actually really fucking pissed. Oppo allows NSFW trash, constant Jezebel baiting and then as soon as there is a blowup about Feminism we continue to see bad jokes and posts saying "can't we just stop talking about feminism, it makes me feel uncomfortable" I'm truly honestly almost done with this place.

Do you write a lot? Sure, use it then. It's a better outlet and training ground than I had when I was HS/college age.
What's more, people here use semi-proper English, posit nearly coherent thoughts, and seem to care about communication far more than Facebook/reddit/forums.
Though make this a life-changing moment and go write for a journal or a school newspaper or something.

I put down Oppo on my internship resumes so why not? I mean, you have to dress it up, like "active contributor to prominent automotive website" or some bs like that but yeah, if you can spin it to sound good you might as well.

It's one of those things. Sometimes you need to step back and ask yourself if you're blaming the right thing.
Other times you realize that the thing is making the rest of your life worse.
What he/she is experiencing now is how I walked away from reddit. No hard feelings, just felt it wasn't adding anything positive to my life.

Just finishing up the supplement questions before applying EA pretty much everywhere. I used oppo as a source of my writing and as an example of my achievements.

I'm sure you're not a bad person, or at least I hope you're not. And thank you for recognizing that your joke was in poor taste and not getting pissy and defensive. Please just think before you make jokes like that, they may seem like a small thing but over time it all adds up.

I'd suggest that you don't put it under writing, It's more of a forum that anything.
