Here I am to contribute a negative twist to things once again, Oppo. Please ignore the terrible writing caused by writing on my phone along with a total lack of sleep, and cynicism caused by a combination of stuff including lack of sleep.
I've lived 5 minutes from DC for all of my short life, half of which has been occupied by the presence of the Nationals. I initially took pity on them, but once they started throwing around big money and becoming the team they are today, I thought better of such a sentiment. That goes along with their douche players , fair weather/clueless fans, and complete lack of understanding of baseball traditionalism (I don't care how "new" they are) as a ball club. My old phone contained the perfect title picture of an entire section of dozens of empty-but-good, previously-filled seats at the top of the 7th inning. Their announcers (one of them ironically nicknamed FP) are blabbering morons beyond belief. Seriously, tune in sometime if you have the chance. Sticking with a team like the orioles through thick and thin (and the extra 25 minute commute time, oh dear!) is what it should really be about. They are focused the game as opposed to hype and marketing, and deserve the loyalty of many ex-fans in the metro area. And go to The Post's baseball comments section if you ever think Jezebel is bad. Here's to hoping the Braves, another team I have tons of respect for, come back with a vengeance next year.

Haha, I'm totally with you.
FP Santangelo wasn't exactly a good player of his time either, I don't mind Bob that much though.
Another gripe of mine is that if they didn't have the damned "presidents race" half the fans wouldn't even show up.
Oh, and Harper is a complete douchebag.

Hmm I can't find the data for this year but when they are in first place the place is usually pretty full for the first 6-7 innings. Otherwise, attendance is usually not great.

Fuck Harper and the president's race! The only times I see people off their iPhones are to call out that Harper is the best player of all time and to see who wins the president's race. Bob isn't bad, though I agree there. I need somewhere to rant about this stuff seeing as one of my favorite teams competes with the nationals for the NL East and my OG team competes for market share... Also that "baseball is..." Thing before every game. Just knock me out before that thing comes on.

I can't agree enough! Everybody is so hyped about Harper while he has the mentality of a 12 year old, and isn't as great as everybody makes him out to be. Like he has slumps just about every other series but everybody still thinks he's the best thing ever. I still like the Nats, but a lot of the "fans" come to games for all the wrong reasons.
But Zimmerman, with that no hitter... That was something good to watch.

Bluejays fell out of the playoffs late in the season but still had a good turnout. Seems odd that a 1 place team would not have that many come out to a game.

That's awesome and how it should be. Washington's not really a baseball city at all. It's a transient city for many, and dedicated fans stuck with their teams. Most people don't really watch the game so much as text people that they are at the game.
