...really VW, after "The Force," "Get Happy," "Black Betty," and all the other hits you have this is the best you can come up with? I am disappoint. :(

Let's take a look back shall we...

it was fairly entertaining. But even beyond the Force etc in the modern era of VW advertising, nothing comes close to the classic DDB ads

To be fair, "The Force" is a pretty hard one to top.

The bathroom scene made me chuckle.

Cause I'm 12.

agreeing with jagvar, The Force will always be damn hard to top. And, to be honest, I did start laughing at the rainbow bit

The Force will go down in all time great car commercials. I just think given VW's history of awesome commercials this one falls short. It would be one thing if it was a regular ad...but a Super Bowl Ad? You gotta pull out all the stops.

Can anyone explain to me the reason for releasing the actual commercial before the Super Bowl?

I like the idea of having a teaser which builds hype, but doesn't releasing it on the internet kill the anticipation of watching the game waiting for it? Its like paying $8 million to show an old commercial.
