Sure—it's a less usable, quirkier, and less cool GTI... but the key word is GTI (and quirkiness to a lesser extent). I know what you're thinking: "Oh great. JayZAyEighty changed his opinion again. Now I have to change mine so I can allign myself with him. Or is that Him ?" Whelp, I'm sorry. You can rarely fault anything with a manual transmission, anyways, and this is not an exception.

I still don't care for the first generation New Beetle, but I do like the current one way more than I expected to.

Are you talking of the first gen New Beetle? I have one...a 2002 with manual tranny...and it's quite a bit of fun to drive even 10 years on...

That body style I wasn't keen on but I understood their appeal...now the current gen is quite sharp.
