Well i am officially part of the Jeep family now.
She is a little rusty but runs and drives good. And she was pretty cheap.

Yea if I were you I'd throw some wheels and tires on it and be done. How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

Nice XJ. Makes me miss my 2000 Sport I sold back in November.
Is she a Renix 4.0 or a Chrysler 4.0?

Yep, you're right on the money.
And the 4.0 HO is the one you wanted. In fact, the circa '91 to '98-ish 4.0L I-6s probably represent the zenith for that particular motor. Before that, you had a Renault-Bendix (aka Renix) fuel injection system that was more complex than the human nervous system. After '98, ChryCo switched to a new head casting that was almost guaranteed to self-destruct.
This is my old XJ that I mentioned. Bought it with 278,XXX miles and sold it at 283,XXX miles and it's still running strong for its new owner.

yes this one has 168,xxx on body and 13x,xxx on the engine and tranny. I just need to fix up some rust on it as it has spend its whole life in MI

She's still a youngin' then. Just do your typical maintenance and that XJ will keep ticking to 300,000 easy.
As far as the rust, there are some key areas you're going to want to check out.
Of course, check your floorpans and cargo area pan. I believe you can buy a complete pan that includes the transmission tunnel for about $300 bucks. The cargo area pan isn't that expensive either. There is a "however" here that I'll get to in a bit.
Check your toeboards. As far as I know, no one makes repro toe boards for XJs yet.
I see there's some rust on the rear quarters and in the rocker panels. Luckily, you can buy most, if not all of your sheetmetal there for around $50 to $100 bucks per panel.
More importantly, since you do have rust in the rear quarter panels, make sure you check to see if your forward leaf spring perches are intact and the section around them isn't rusted through. Remember that "however ..." I mentioned earlier? This is what I was talking about. While you can buy a new cargo area pan and new floor pans, the section under the rear seat isn't out there and it's this section of the floor pans the leaf spring perches weld up to.

GOOD LAWD!!!! Did you haggle with the owner with a pistol in your hand that's the steal of the century. Make sure you check that trac bar those are notorious for getting worn out and that's what causes your death wobble 9/10 times.

I've had 2 zj's and have a 3rd that needs a tranny but all of them I bought with right around 190k and they all ran great and my previous 2 should still be. The 4.0 is one of the greatest motors ever built in my opinion anyway.

Agreed!
You know, since it's relatively easy to build a 4.0 into a stout 4.7L stroker, I've always wanted to throw one under the hood of a pro-touring style, circa '72-ish AMC Hornet coupe or a mid-70s Javelin and see what the result would be ...

Yes i have easy access to sheet metal to patch up rusty spots. My dad is a retired sheet metal worker and can get stuff cut and made pretty easily

I forgot that those roof racks started in 91 I think same time the HO did.
those are transmissions, auto & 5 speed, but there is a chance it may not be the ax15,
