I would LOVE a Cherubim R-2 bicycle. They're handmade in Japan by a family who has been making bicycles for generations. Cherubim bikes are pretty much universally agreed to be the best riding steel frames you can buy. Also the attention to craftsmanship is insane! However they start at $2000 for just a frame and fork. Maybe one day.

But I'm only 23... :p
The truth of the matter is that I've really been thinking about that a lot lately, for some reason. Things that I wanted that I started to wonder if I actually need, and things that I have that I don't care a lot about anymore, while some of the stuff I've had the longest (my car from 1995, for example, or my watch from 1996) are the ones I actually enjoy and care about. Because of history, I guess... Or I'm weird, hahaha...
I can totally see the value in fine craftsmanship though, but I guess this stuff's just not for me. If anything, I'd like to learn from that craftsmanship.

i'm now 40. Yep there it is. with that I can say that I no longer want that TAG Heuer monaco watch. It would be nice but honestly? Why?....What's it gonna do for me? Impress others? Others can suck it. I don't want it because that would pay for the restoration of my mini. The New awesome Ferrari? sure it's nice but I'd be happy with a classic older one I can drive that isn't the GTO. There's so many things that I used to want that were ridiculously priced but no longer do I need. I just wnat a mortgage paid off, college for the kids paid for, and the ability to travel when I retire with comfortable shoes and leather in my car. That's about it....aside from the entire 70's leyton house F1 team I saw for sale on racecars.com once a number of years ago (2 cars, spare DFV engines and the team hauler!)
Bikes ohhhh. I don't want the campy stuff because there's such a stigma behind it. I think there's amazing bikes and parts without the flash that's just as good or better. For example i'm looking at a Paketa frame . Magnesium alloy. Carbon qualities and stiffness with the ride feel of a chromo.....It's like the best of both worlds! Light frames too. Something like $3350 frameset. There's $10k+ framesets out there....silly. but larger heavy people with money will buy em for the showoff quality.
Overpriced and want?....well....if it's paid for and the costs to have it are paid for...a P.180 Avanti

I've kinda gotten the same way and I'm spending my money more on experiences and travel more than I am on stuff. The stuff just isn't worth it.

A house would be nice, but when something like this starts at $350000 I can't see that happening anytime soon. welcome to the world of overvalued housing.

you bastard! I can even buy a 500sq/ft studio apartment for $130000. but yet my brother is on the other side of the country and has a 2 story 5 bedroom house with an acre of land he paid $104000.
I make twice as much money as he does but houses cost 4 times as much.
I'm currently renting a 620sq/ft 1 bedroom apartment for $1200/mth.

That blows. I pay $800/mth for about 1200 square feet. 2 bedroom, 1 bath, finished living room in the basement, 1 car garage. It's a duplex.
My brother lives in LA, I don't know how he does it. I feel like I would have to make twice as much to be able to afford the lifestyle I have here. I may be in the middle of nowhere, but at least I get to live like a king.

I know. In fairness, I'm more blown away by how much you can get for so little here than I am surprised at how little you get elsewhere. I can't wait to get a house next year.

The spokes alternate which side of the hub they go to, so depending on the angle that you look at it, they can appear askew.

Find a local jeweler and pay with cash. Skip all the places by the mall. Other than that there is no getting around how overpriced a diamond is.

A garage, a heated garage with enough room for one car, workbench and tools, plus a bit of storage. Needs a central drain for washing and detailing the car in the winter.

I could use a pair of new 50 horse outboards for the ol' hole in the water, but it doesn't really make sense to spend $15,600 (!!!!!!!!!!) on two new engines for a boat I paid $200 for.

I'd love to get an AR-15 and deck it out.
Is it practical? No. I have a sub-compact that's practical.
Can I afford to shoot it? No, not really.
Is it totally badass? Why yes, yes it is.
Estimated price before I was done with it? ~$2200
