So, the car has been on my buddies property for a long time while we build it. (I'm 19) I don't have anywhere to put it and he lived with his Grandma and she was fine with the car being there. Well, she died on December 21st and her son is taking over the house and he wants it gone the day he gets on the property, which is the 28th, meaning I have seven days to get rid of it, my parents wont let me bring it home unless its running and street legal, which I REALLY doubt I'll be able to do. So it looks like this is the temporary end of the Jurassic Park Baja idea. If I pull something out of my ass and manage to keep it I'll let you know. But this does put me in a position to buy a new car, and I've been looking at a Volvo Wagon (RWD, Manual) for a long time. I've like them since i was two or three, and if I hafta get rid of the dangerbug, I'm gettin either one of those, another bug or a Toyota/Nissan half-ton. Lemme know what you can get for $2,000 or less in the comments? And if your interested in buying a VW Bug project in Phoenix Arizona I happen to have one that I have to get rid of.

Get a storage unit until you get it running. A lot of places will give you a good rate on the first couple months.

Actually thats not a bad idea. I'll have to look into it and hope I can afford it. Although it may be better to ditch this car as all its given me is problems and I need something I can rely on for now. We shall see.

Fair enough. You may have to be sneaky though. Working on your car is against the rules in a lot of those places. So bring a floodlight and close the door.
Zona is the appropriate locale for a Baja Bug. It's weird seeing all the pictures on Oppo lately of Baja Bugs in the snow.

Hahaha, mines not a baja, but I've had a lot of good times throwin some dirt tires on the back and takin her into the desert. Even with uncut fenders they're great little offroaders.

I stored my little Focus for $120/month if that gives you any idea of the rates for a car the size of yours. It's not terribly expensive, especially if you shop around. A lot of places run discounts and coupons on websites and in newspapers, so if you do go that route, definitely do your homework.

Yeah. I did a lot of hunting and fishing in Northern Baja back in the day, and my dad's buddy had a stock-ish one with just some meaty tires on it. That thing would go anywhere. And if it got stuck, two dudes just lifted the back up and over a little bit, and away you go.

I'll check that out and If I can afford it with my rent and everything theres a good chance I'll do that. Hopefully it all works out. Wish I'd been given a month or so to sort it all. In a month I could have probably got it running well.

So far I've never had mine stuck. but I've got a set of wheels and offroad tires that I'd just toss in the back if I were going anywhere I thought I may need them.

What's left to fix?
I second the storage unit idea, FWIW.

Well, I need to put the windshield in, which I don't know how to do, and I don't want to fuck it up trying. I need a new battery, the one I have now will barely turn the engine over, but we swapped my buddys battery in and it turned over just fine. It wont start though, if you pour gas straight into the carb, it will start, and there is fuel to the carb, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm going to try to tune the carb later this morning If I have timeand see if it will stay on, or even start. Seeing as my buddy wont be there I'll probably have to push start it. Ummm, I need to do seatbelts and I need to wire all of the lighting into new switches. Thats all I know of that HAS to be done as of right now, but I work a lot for not much money and don't have enough time to get it done I dont think. :/
