If we're talking automatics, any late-Sixties/early-Seventies GM A-body convertible with the 350 Turbo Hydra-Matic backing up the small-block V-8. America at its zenith.

The only MANUAL 3 speed I've driven is my Scout, so I guess that wins...

Mostly shooting for the manual trans family's crazy uncle three-on-the-floor and his wife three on the tree to a lesser extent. Then again, if a two-door Poncho is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Mine, but it's an automatic.

My best friend drove essentially exactly this car when we were in high school, complete with a 3 speed stick. Vaguest box I've ever stirred in my life, and it was awesome.

Lets see Brown Check, Wagon Check, 2 door ... check, inline 6 check, 3 on the tree Check yup this is my favorite!

The Corevtte C2 was offered with a 3-speed manual
![]() 01/17/2014 at 16:31 |

Ramcharger! Initially offered with a 3-speed manual or a 3 speed auto. And an optional 440, 'cause displacement.

Never had a car with a 3 speed but my favorite is the 56 corvette with 265ci v8 and dual fours on top backed by a 3spd.

I am always god damned jelly donut whenever you post pics of this thing. I cant believe my friend hasnt found one pic of his 49 for me yet. Guess I am going to have to go out and take a shot next time I am down in that area

Excellent choice. Not my favorite of the two versions of the Falcon 2dr wagon, but my favorite of the two years in that style. Very clean, good color. Pretty.

Excellent. Oh boat-anchor-engined SWB 4wds, where have ye gone?

Exception granted for not being New Process equipped, because sage-like age.

...Because who needs more gears than that with that torque curve, mirite?

3 Speed Merc-O-Matic!

i am up in the air if I like the 60'-63' style of the 64'-65' style more. As a wagon or a sedan, I think the 63' is the prettiest, but as a coupe I think that the 65' sprint is more attractive. Its a tough tough decision.

Yup.Drove one in Gran turismo PSP but that one had the ZO6 package. It was awesome, accelerated like mad and looked badass.

If you're going to keep posting Montego as the non-Miata answer to everything, we demand more angles, and possibly interior shots. And by we I mean me.

I really like the '64 XM coupe. Taking the first-gen style and running with it past sell by by making it weird.

This is the only 3 speed I've owned so I guess that makes it my favorite. It is still great though.

3 gears: all low. Yes, including drive.
Nice pick. And pic.

On the tree for me.
Mid 60's Chevelle.

Thanks, it's the pic from the ad when I bought it. Didn't have a better one on me.
I've since removed the front license plates and those fake bullet holes in the grill. Looks much better.

NSF's 56 crown Vic I got to drive last year. The roof was sawed off. Only time I have driven a three on the tree. Hilariously bad and so much fun.
Fun fact: since cars without a roof require using wrist straps, I had to shuffle the giant wheel to turn. Unforgettable

Though a 4-speed was available, most AAR 'cudas were sold as 3-speeds .

Did you even see my giant photo dump I did for you?

Yes, I did. ++, should have recommended with both my Kinjas, but I think I only recommended with one.
