Assuming it does not suffer from the Nikasil cylinder lining issues, and has updated cam chain tensioners (likely with 160K miles), it seems like a whole lot of car for next to nothing.

if you show up and it doesnt have knocking rods and bad front wheel bearings, it is probably a pretty good deal. Jag AJ engines are good for limited miles in my experience

NP. I've often thought about picking up an XJR, albeit a generation newer. Nothing depreciates quite like an XJR.

Well I guess it depends how well the engines are cared for, my father had a 96 XJ6 and it was running like new until the day a woman in a Geo Metro decided to run a red light and total it.
Just curious are the X308s that different from the X300s? I know the engine is different, but not many of the maintenance tasks on the X300 were outside the ability of an average shade tree mechanic.

I should have qualified that as the AJ v8's. The straight six was a great durable engine, the V8's I have seen taken especially good care of and start knocking around 110K, X308 you can wrench on at home for most stuff. Wheel bearings require some skill and a special tool you can buy for 120 bucks, but beyond that they are serviceable
