"RacecaR" (RacecaR)

A week or so ago, we saw a '96 Impala SS in a parking lot while getting groceries. I asked our oldest daughter if she approved of it for my next toy car. She said no.
My wife also said no. She said she couldn't see me in one.
After professing my love for them, which my wife knows I love them because I drool every time I see one, I began to realize I can not really see myself in one either.
I love the idea of owning one, but really can not see me driving one. Not even as a cruiser. I can't take it out on twisty roads. I can't autocross is. I can not even see it as a first choice as a cruiser car for a nice date with my wife.
I love the car. I love the looks of the car. I love the sound of the engine. I love the car. I just can not, in damn near any situation, see myself in one.
So what car do you have in your mind like that? You love the car, but just can not see yourself in one?

For me, that's the Juke. I absolutely love it and have driven a couple, but I can't see myself going out and getting in one every day.

You buy it anyways.
My car would be... I guess a W210 E55. The car just looks like an old man.

A jeep. I love them but they just aren't the kind of vehicle you choose to take out for some spirited driving

But I can't justify buying it if I'm not going to really drive it.

I absolutely love this car, but it completely goes against my philosophy of handling before power and just my personality in general.

This is so true! I also love the Wrangler, and the Xterra for that matter, But I just can't picture myself driving one!
if I can afford 2 cars one day, though...

As a previous owner of a Dodge Spirit, I don't have this problem. Anything is acceptable after that.
I do own a 94 Caprice 9c1(cop car) and your example makes me sad. :(

Not my pic but identical to the one I had.
I didn't quite fit in it 20 years ago and I'm pretty sure I couldn't fit in it now.
I still love that little roller skate.

Midget! Yeah, I'm afraid that might be me in a Spitfire/Midget/MGB. Small cars, big guy, but they're so gorgeous...

I would agree that an FRS owner and a Mustang owner are two completely seperate people.

Same for me except with the older S/CL.

The new C7, specifically the Z06:
God I love this car. It's simultaneously serious and batshit all at the same time, and performance-wise is basically anything you could ask for this side of an exotic. But I'll never own one, not due to any practicality or cost-related reasons, but, as a 5'8, 125lb individual I would feel ridiculous driving it around. I'm a small, unassuming dude, so I need a small, unassuming car.

A BMW 8 series. I'm just not a big enough douche to drive a big bimmer coupe

Yeaaahhh. I really don't want to be a BMW Audi or Mercedes owner. But all three companies make and have made multiple cars I lust after.

This is a really good answer. A lot of baggage with that "mustang" name.
Never the less, it is perhaps the biggest performance bargain of the decade, so I kind of have to love it.

I like the Supra, especially in stock form, but I can't especially see myself in it because for every 1 tasteful Supra, there's 25 riced out Supras. Ugh.

It's not very likely to happen but an Aston Martin, they are beautiful machines, but the few time's i have seen them the driver always looks like a door knob with a cucumber up his butt, and I can see the same thing happening to almost anyone who drives one, its just imposable to pull it off. or at least nearly unless your james bond.

Felt the same way about the //M6. Its the only car I've ever driven that I can say needs no mods, no extras, its automotive perfection. But I could never own one cause I'm afraid I'd become "one of those BMW guys" that we all hate.

It's literally too big for me.

Pretty much any of the pony cars. I love the Camaro, and really like the Challenger, but neither of them are really 'me'. They are too big, I'm more of a small car person.

No. Anytime it comes for me to buy a project, it is not really on my list because of the reasons I stated before.

Just about any Rolls-Royce or Bentley. I find them utterly charming, I have nothing but admiration for the workmanship and detailing, but there are so many other choices I'd prefer that I can't see ever actually getting to one of these.
Never mind the recent VW/BMW era cars like the Continental, which do little to nothing for me in the first place.

Something old and European, like an old Lancia or FIAT:
They were neither fast nor reliable for their time, and 40 years of both wear and automotive evolution puts their handling on par at best with a modern Corolla. But at least instead of driving it, I could spend hours scouring the internet to try to find a replacement part when something breaks.
They sure look sweet, though.

A Miata. Since i'm not a hair dresser. A RWD small sports car would be awesome - if it was a coupe.
