Last night, as I was circling around the block looking for a place to park in the Valley at least somewhere near my friend's apartment building, I saw something stunning: a beautiful woman driving a Jaguar XK-SS. To say the least, that's not something I ever expected to see in my life.

Only 16 XK-SSes ever left Brown's Lane. Maybe it was a kit, or a recreation built from an E-Type. But it didn't feel like that. There was something authentic looking about its British Racing Green finish, and the slight aging of the chrome-y bits. It sounded real. Perhaps I imagined it, but it even smelled real.

I wish I had thought to say, "Thank you, for driving such an awesome car on the streets instead of locking it away in a garage somewhere." Instead, I couldn't help myself from blurting out, "Holy crap! That's my favorite car in the world!"

To the driver of that car, whatever it is and whoever you are, thank you. You made a small dream of mine come true.

I'm extremely jealous. There is almost nothing I like seeing more than an old Jag.

Whenever I see someone out driving something unique, I actually do thank them for driving their car! It usually catches the owner off guard but I like to think it encourages them to bring it out as often as possible.

Regular folks (people not like us on Oppo) need to see beautiful and unique cars being driven around. It reminds them that cars used to be and still can be more than an appliance or just a basic way of getting from point A to point B.
