In a bad way though. Collapsed rear suspension, dented boot, bonnet and engine cover. All wings dented, and one pulled apart. One dented door. One flattened a-pillar. Broken windscreen.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Poor little thing. I'm hoping I can sell enough bits off it to buy another.

Now we've just got this pile of logs to chop up:

...and this one:

...and this one:

...and this pile of branches to go on a bonfire:

Lots to do :)

I have nightmares about this and my car catching on fire. Absolutely horrifying

I could use that as a parts car...

Only thing to do, strip the rear end for reduced weight/better cooling, rebuild rear suspension, and race.

I'd be happy to sell you some bits that aren't damaged, although I am in the UK so postage would be a bit steep.

The plan is to part it out to keep some other cars alive, and then either put the proceeds towards another X1/9 or my Spitfire 6 project.

With all those branches it seems fortunate that the Fiat didn't get it much worse.

Yeah, there's a stand of about 4 colossal oaks like this one. I get a bit jittery when I hear storm warnings coming in.

Nah, that Lada was safely down in the field being useful :) the Porsche was well away as well, and the Maserati saved the MG

Only the Maserati is insured, and that was based on an agreed value insurance from before we started taking it apart. I doubt they'll pay anything if they came and had a look now. Still, the Maserati looks fixable. We'll see :)

I was tempted to chop the windscreen off entirely and make a speedster racer...

It is actually. The biggest boughs landed in-between the Fiat and the Jaguar (in the space I usually park the Alfa!).

Wow, that's gotta make you feel like something was looking out for the Alfa.

Yeah it's a complete coincidence. We had a big delivery of wooden boards for the extension come on the back of a flatbed which broke down half-way through unloading. We just cut the straps and let the bundle fall, blocking the way into my little space.

Very lucky now that I think about it :)

A friend of mine once cut an X1/9 in half and re-welded the front to another X1/9. Maybe you could something similar?
