Now seems like a good time to bring this up with all the "I to, hate BMW owners" talk around here
I was thinking if I got the e23 in a presentable state in time, I'd go check this out since its only 2 hours south of me. Is it even worth going in a "vintage" not e30 bmw, or is it just a bunch of Dubstep/edm blasting bros tooling around in e46's? I see a lot of stance, thats never a good sign...

I have not. On the west coast.
But I don't hate BMW owners.
And I love e23s
I'd rather they not be stanced but I'm not mad if they are. At least that person loves his car. I'd rather someone drive a stanced e23 than a new Camry :)

I went this past year. I'm 19 and drive a 1971 2002. You can already figure I'm not the typical BMW 'cock'. After the first few hours I got bored; luckily there were club baseball games going all day. I would go, it's interesting, and it would be nice to see another decent person there. Also, there is a good bit of free stuff and cool touring cars to see up close.

I'm not really knowledgeable on euro car culture, I've only owned American cars (Fords) and have been to the Ford Nationals @ Carlisle 3 times now. I feel like I'd be way out of place rolling up on an event like this lol
At least you have a car considered an iconic classic, most people forget that e23's even exist.

I went last year and had a good time, there were too many stanced E46s with bro drivers but there were also a lot of really tastefully modded ones too. Overall you can kind of tell the good from the ugly as the stanced crowd usually groups together and you can just stay away! I would advise going, lots of cool stuff there.

Think about that statement and then think about how knowledgeable your average BMW enthusiast is. By the way, I loved going to Carlisle as a kid (Corvette, Mopar, Ford, and truck events mostly), haven't gone for years sadly. Trust me, it's not like people can't fit in. A guy showed up in a pretty crappy (build quality and taste for that matter) 1967 Mustang made to look like a gt500. It was terrible in my opinion, bright neon blue, side skirts, and a bunch of shoddy work, but that car got quite a lot of attention. There are also the older guys in the more classic cars. I had two E9s next to me and both gentlemen were in their 50s or 60s and they were the ones I talked to for the most part. I also know a few other people that go as well, needless to say they are older and have a more refined taste as well.
Overall, it's enjoyable. You will even get to see a Z8. I would recommend you go, because at the very least you will see some cool rides hopefully meet some interesting people. Plus, if you clean your car up nicely and enter the contest, you could experience this.

I figure if I get it presentable I'll enter in the car show, for 20 bucks what the hell I'm not gonna park it around the block and walk in. I don't expect to win anything unless they have a e23 only class and I'm the only e23 there lol
Its not a show car, none of the paint is original, and right now the pass side fender, as Graverobber on jalopnik said, looks like "Tony Soprano badda-binged some mook's head against it". My friend has a replacement fender sitting in his basement thats the wrong (and better) shade of grey, so in the spring time I want to put it on and repaint the front of the car to make it presentable. I'm also going to try and find a set of style 37's so my friend can get his style 118's back. I have a lot I need to do when it gets warm out.

Glad to know you will be attending. But don't stress the looks, it's not that important. Just being there and being friendly puts you miles ahead of others there.

I went 2 years ago. It was fun to walk around for a bit, though the 3.5hr drive was a bit of a stretch. Some forums have caravans that go down to the show, which I'm sure are fun. There were plenty of dropped e36's there, but I saw a decent amount of variety as well, including some gorgeous M535i's, and other vintage stuff. I didn't take a lot of pictures, but here are a few of the more interesting cars:
Now that I can bring the e30 I want to go again!

Are you by any chance the kid who Petrolicious wrote an article about a couple months ago? Because, if so, that was an awesome story. Even if your not the same 2002 owner, I am envious that you own such an awesome car.

No, that wasn't my story, but it was still a great one. My car is much more stock that that one.

My 2k2 was parked next to the same electric yellow/green E9 this past year. Interesting guy that I ended up talking to for a good bit of the show. The turbo wasn't there this past year, I hope it shows up this year.
