I was looking at $300 HD dashcams, but since I got a shiny new iPotato 5s I figured I'd give it a chance to do the job, and I'm glad I did. Here's a celebratory snowy FR-S roundabout drift:
Bought one of these sticky pad/suction cup things to mount it. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
It's alright. It took a little wrangling to get the right angles and find the right place to mount it, but once I got in on there it held strong. Taking the phone off is actually not easy. There's no risk of it dropping your phone, that is until it gets dirty I guess, but it also means it's not just grab and go. You have to reach over with both hands and pull it apart.

Thank you! This has just made me realize I can drill a lens hole in my RAM mount for my bike and allow recording while I ride! Eureka! I can record assholes on the commute running in to me.

I took the car mount to my original droid and drilled out the appropriate location in front of the lens, and I was really surprised at how well it dashcammed. I would need to find something that would auto edit footage if needed, but the cam itself worked splendidly.

I know there are a few apps on the App store that do the 'accident recorder' thing, surely there's something out there for droids too.

I should repurpose my old One X as a dashcam. I mean, the screen is broken but the camera still works.
Will experiment with this idea soon. My commute never has interesting cars or people, but since I look around the airport I see some cool stuff from time to time. I saw a Learjet do a zoom climb one day, it was so epic I almost wrecked.
It looked a lot like this:

I almost kept my old phone to serve as a dashcam, but the picture wasn't very good so I took the trade in value towards my new one.
It's worth a try. Worst case scenario you have to return the mount.
