As I mention here a lot, I am, in spite of my ability to form sentences, a Kentuckian, born and raised. Unbeknownst to many, Kentucky is actually a civilized place, as I've lived a very typical suburban life in the place so many associate with toothlessness and moonshine. I threw all that away New Year's Eve and for the first time, went to a cabin out in the woods and did redneck shit.
Now you might be inclined to ask, "Oh, well good for you Joe, why post that on Oppo?"
Well, to all you who aren't interested in my holiday plans, I'm writing this post because the road to this cabin is the best road I've driven. Creek roads are commonplace in my parent's native Pennsylvania, but here in Kentucky they are a delicacy. Leading to the cabin where I spent my New Years was a creek road lined with cornfields, offering unprecedented visibility through the rolling corners. Nearly frozen pellets of gravel peppered the road, demanding early turn in and a supple right foot. Each time a set of corners would appear over the horizon, I'd stop the Civic, giving my buddy I was following a good lead, then tear through the corners like Sebastian Loeb on bath salts. I had a damn good time being a hillbilly, but I had a better time getting there.

Moonshine? I thought Kentucky was full of weed and meth now.

It's also full of bull shit because you're right, that whole bit about the shine is false. We just have meth and pot, although the meth heads tend to keep to themselves. You only really see them at Walmart around 2am.
