John Hennessey is at it again, on a toll road a few miles north of where I live. With a CTS? A Corvette? No, and no. He got himself a new SS, but then Chevy rained on his parade.
APPARENTLY, there are some lawyers on the SS (read "Holden") design team that like to screw with us car owners. The car, even though it has SIX gears, will only incorporate the first FIVE when running at high speeds. This limits the vehicle to 163 MPH. By itself, this is a pretty tall mark. But when you look at the video, you can see that the Hennessey HPE600 package is capable of tremendously more. When the SS hit 163, the transmission slammed on the brakes.
Nothing against you lawyers, but some of your peers really know how to ruin a good time.

Simple computer tune should fix that issue...

I'm curious as to why Hennessey didn't change that with the package.

Casually adjusts his seat at 150mph...

I'd wager no one told them

Perhaps.

Might've forgotten. If I remember right the C7, Challenger SRT8, Viper, Camaro, and SRT Grand Cherokee all don't have a top speed limiter. Hasn't had to do it in a long time.

Texas State Troopers have Challenger SRT8s?!?

Yup. They don't mess around.

Weak... Hey Hennessey... TAKE OUT THE DAMNED SLUSHBOX! Throw a 6 or 7 Speed manual from a Corvette in there, and try again.

Highly possible that the car becomes highly unstable above that speed.

Does the Holden even have a transaxle? I thought it and the 'Maro both had it in the middle. This doesn't change the fact that it still needs to be done, but I just don't think the Corvette tranny would actually work.

Welcome to Texas.

Or throw the 6 speed manual that comes standard with an Aussie-market HSV Commodore in there

Good point... Didn't think of that... Well, regardless, I'm sure that there are other GM manual transmissions that can be put into the SS... Personally, I think it's absolutely retarded that there isn't a manual option on the SS... Isn't it supposed to be "Super Sport", not "Slushboxed Sedan"?

There we go... Chevy... DO IT. Nothing with an SS badge should ever be automatic transmission only. EVER.
