T-Rex disagrees...
I saw three of these driving through downtown Providence the other night. I was too far away to take a picture, but these things look and sound like a ton of fun.

Until you see the MSRP, and realize you could buy a used 996TT/997/Viper/C6 Z06/supercharged Elise and still have enough money left to buy a used Miata...

As an avid motorcycle enthusiast, I am not bashing the concept of a three-wheeled vehicle. If a kit existed to build something similar to the T-Rex for under $8k, I'd seriously consider building one. But there is no such kit and I lack the mechanical engineering ability to build such a kit (and, honestly, am too preoccupied and lazy to learn said skills). But given the fact that Factory Five can build a GTM for less than the price of a T-Rex, despite using more expensive parts for the build (the Porsche transaxle costs more than the motorcycle drivetrain in the T-Rex), the T-Rex is legitimately overpriced. Cool, but overpriced.

Regarding ruining one of the cars on my list on the track, I assure you that said driver at the same speeds would have done the same or worse with a three wheeled application due to the reduced cornering ability and traction inherent to a three wheeled design.

Still, my condolences for you or your friend's loss on the track.

Everyone agrees they are overpriced. I think there are much better 4-wheel options.

I would expect less people to die in a T-Rex though compared to a motorcycle, both for the protection, and the increased visibility (by virtue of size alone).

The on track experience was actually the exact opposite. There seemed to be a belief by the T-Rex owners that they could out-drag us, but that didn't work out for them. As expected, there was simply no match what-so-ever in braking and cornering ability of our cars.

But in the hands of great drivers, it would be an interesting race.
