Never ever got the point of tug of wars nor did I get the point of all the destroying engines videos...

"Yeah my Chevy is built, but it only has 200,000 on the bottom end. I spent my money on bolt on stuff."

Him and his mad scientist will have to rip apart the block and replace the piston rings he fried.

Ok ok ok. Before I have to go off on you about the invalidity of this comment, I'll preface my statement by saying in no way do I think tug of wars between trucks is a good idea. It proves nothing but who has the most traction and can put it down most effectively.

That said, after hanging out with guys from the Tractor Pull team at my school, the amount of engineering and true ingenuity that goes into those cars is remarkable. Sure, to you, they might look like a bunch of rednecks pulling around a heavy sled, but there really is a lot of engineering that goes into the drivetrains and chassis of those cars. Try hauling a 50,000 pound sled with a tractor putting down insane amounts of torque (try on the magnitude of 5000 ft-lbs) without breaking your drivetrain. It requires a vast knowledge of material strengths/properties, engineering design, and stout manufacturing.

So before you blast a sport you know nothing about while simultaneously blasting a culture, do some research and maybe gain some appreciation.

But yes, trying to have a tug of war with two pretty much stock trucks is stupid.

I used to be a redneck and mud runs are fun. See where you and your vehicle can go that your friend's can't. But everything else though is real dumb.

There's a difference between an offroad vehicle that's used to do things offroad—my wife used to drive a '93 Grand Cherokee before her Subie—but risking your vehicle to play in the mud doesn't seem very practical to me.

The whole concept of competing two vehicles until one blows up doesn't seem very practical, does it?

Tractor pulls aren't as bad as this example of a truck pull, but it's still a tractor pull... Each to their own, I guess, but I wouldn't rank it in my top ten most exciting things to do.
