it will be the most expensive beer you ever get in your life if you go. It has gotten out of hand....if you can even get into a tent

So, I heard from a guy that foreigners have a hard time getting into the tents. Can any one who has been confirm that?

10 euros for a litre. For a once in a while, I'd say its ok. Spendy but ok.

FWIW, my wife and I happened to be there in about '08 or '09. We had no problem getting in to the Paulaner "tent", or the Hacker Pschorr. The rule out the time was to go earlier in the afternoon, preferably on a week day, and about 2/3 or 3/4 through the festival. I'd love to tell you we had it all planned out, but it really was just dumb luck. We just happened on the right timing on a trip around/through the alps that we'd been planning for a couple of years. The big space crunch with reservations, back then, started at about 5 or 6 pm. Tables start getting designated for the groups who signed up well in advance. Seemed like most of them were corporate/business type outfits. We had started at about noon, so had already had roasted chicken, brats, pretzels, and several liters of beer apiece, and were ready to head out anyway. Worked out well. We got all our tips from Rick Steve's at the time, http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/destinati… and have consistently had good results with his guidebooks and advice. Important note for jalops: if you're there anyway, it's a very, very short walk to the Verkehrszentrum, the Deutsches Musem giant museum of transport. Heaven for gearheads. http://www.deutsches-museum.de/en/verkehrszen…

Look at at the other guy to his left (on the other side of the right most girl). His look is hilarious.
