In truth, it does because the engine/trans weight is on the front wheels. Handling is a totally different animal though...

In my experience living in the rocky mountains... FWD is *sometimes* useful in heavy snow, other than that I don't really... I mean... god its awful. :(

I think Mitsubishi would still be around stronger than it is now if they would have carried on with a DSM version of the Eclipse. I am a really big fan of those crazy ass DSM's but I don't think I want to own one due to the fact that they can become money pits full of broken parts.

Also, in everyday usage, FWD does give you better traction. And is much safer in the untrained hands, which are, like, at least 80% of motorists. So i have no problems with nice FWD coupes out there.... as long as there is at least one cool RWD option for me to chose.
