In 1973-1974 Porsche referred to these love or hate hood decals as “Safety Stripes”. What makes the 911 running these factory optional racing stripes so much safer? Apparently, rumor has it that the people at Porsche felt by taking away from the shine and adding the flat finished stripes made the nimble little sports car easier to spot on the road and well, safer of course.

I'm a little torn. They have a hand-done quality to them. I like them, but I fear it may be due to the novelty. I'd be interested in seeing them on a 991, maybe with the hole in the 9, and a more up to date font.

That is actually sweet. Not the biggest 911 fan but that just works.

I agree with that. The corners could do with a little rounding. Not too much, but enough to be updated. I agree with putting a hole in the 9 as well. I don't have my laptop with photoshop, otherwise I would mock it up.
