I've mentioned that E60 M5 with the ridiculous exhaust that resides in my building.

I fucking hate that car. Fuck it. Fuck it IN PARTICULAR.

Maybe it sounds nice when it's being driven balls-out. Maybe. Unfortunately, all I ever hear is it being driven like a grandma in first and second gear up to 30mph, in which conditions it sounds exactly like a Honda ricer. Just, you know, 3 times as loud. It also has a really loud Idle. And the structure of our garage exit works like a concert hall to focus all of that noise directly to my room.

I can hear this car coming, like an obese mosquito, from 3 blocks away. It's loud enough to wake me up when I'm sleeping. The owner seems to just spend his time driving around, as from what I can tell, it leaves about five times a day and never gets very far.

And it doesn't even sound good.

(In case it is not clear, I have not slept in an amount of time that is sufficiently long that I cannot recall)

My friend (and old roommate) has a C63 with pretty open exhaust, and when he started that thing up in the morning, even from the 5th floor with all windows closed it would wake me up. I loved it. I do get what you're saying about the M5, as below 2500 RPM they don't sound too good with loud exhaust. But...what can you do. It's an acquired taste to be sure.

I hear ya. I used to have a motorcycle with cut straight pipes. Now I feel badly for every single person that lived in that apartment complex.
