What should I expect to pay for a 1985 MR2 in good condition with a ton of recent maintenance done to it? Car has 106k miles and advertised as ''rust free''. Here's a couple pics of the car in question:

That's beautiful. What are they asking?

Rust free, running and driving perfectly, with 100k miles? I'd say $3-$3500 sounds about right. Maybe 4 if the interior and paint is good too.

For reference, my 88 Supercharged with 135k miles, $1000 in aftermarket goodies, and decent paint was $4800. I did overpay a little, but I didn't care. I really wanted it.

They're asking $5k, but apparently they have receipts for all the following maintenance:
Recent professional engine rebuild (2013)
All around new coolant hoses
New tires all around
New clutch
New handbrake cables
New Timing Belt
New Vaccum hoses
New waterpump
New distributor cables and plugs
New battery
New Cylinder Rings
New K&N Air Filter
New exhaust header
Cleaned EGR
Reconditioned Head Unit
The engine rebuild worries me though, since it's pretty recent. Either something didn't quite work after the rebuild or (the preferable option) he had it rebuilt so he could sell it for more.

That's the problem with MR2s. You can put lots into then but the value doesn't go up much. 5k is pushing it. 4500 is high but ok. 4 is about right.

They were aroound $10-11k when new. So a bit high. in that condition he could probably get it, but if you have the cash offer him $4500. The old adage "cash talks, bullshit walks" is true!
