On a scale of 1 - 10, how crazy/stupid am I for wanting this E28 as a winter beater
Also hi to everyone both old and new, sorry I haven't really been around for a while but work was .....well it just was, but school has more than made up for that, come 4 days and all of us are going to start IV insertion....can't wait but I can already see the bruises on my arms

Probably a 5, I'm sure it'll be decently reliable, and fun drift times would be ahead, but I can't imagine it would stand up very well to a Calgary winter.
Also, I want it. Although it's a few provinces away, and it's pointless for me to have a car in my situation.

I guess if you live where it rarely snows, but then you don't need a winter beater. A $550 BMW sounds like trouble.

Thanks Ravey, and while its no E28 have this for a consolation prize

I'm actually looking for a winter car at the moment as well and am excited about a 75 2002 I just found... so I don't think you are too crazy. My search started with looking for an MR2 for winter and ended up with me searching every cool car I can think of for under $3000.

I could film a rip off of the £1800 porsches challenge, and yes it sounds like trouble, but fun trouble nonetheless

Go for it. If it don't work out you have a LeMons car.

I'm trying to see what I can find for $650 or under and lets just say the results aren't encouraging, though it's interesting to see what people think junk is worth

Yeah, I am always scanning CL for interesting deals. Under $1000 it's lucky to find something that runs and isn't so boring you would want to kill yourself after driving it.
