So I'm new here and I've caught on to most of how all this works (made my first post this morning) but I have one question... When I've commented it seems that even though it appears they're being posted, I never see it when I scroll through the comments! Any ideas? Thanks!

It should. If you go back and look now do you seem them? It may take awhile to show up.
Also, are you talking about here on oppo or back on the FP?

It sometimes takes a little while for your comments to appear for you. Other people will see it but sometimes you have to wait a few minutes and refresh the page for it to show on your end.
EDIT: Yup, just happened to me with this comment.

If you're talking front page, it's because you haven't become an approved commenter on there. Don't worry, I'm not either, and I've been reading here longer than most. Go to the bottom of the comments, and click on the hidden discussions, yours will be in there somewhere, grayed out, but still visible (just harder to find).

As long as he runs in his wheel, Oppo keeps working. When he stops, we all have problems. I just had the same problem as you. It was just Nibbles doing his usual tricks. From my experience, there's not much we can do to stop this. Trust me, it won't be the last time. Anyway, welcome to Oppo!

Many times, will not post right away. Close out Oppo and re-open or refresh and it should be there. We all have our quirks and so does Oppo.

If you are talking about the FP (Jalopnik), you will have to post some good comments for a while before you will get non-grayed comments. The authors do seem to look at comments and are fair in allowing new commenters. If you think you are deserving of regular commenter status, ask one of the authors/editors? for permission. This is a great place with really good people. You have chosen wisely. Welcome.
