I'm all for shooting brakes but this render, apparently by Zagato, is the pits.

Weeeiiiirrrdddd.
Front is still hideous...I see that crazy fly-eyed headlight up there.

proof that a shooting brake isn't for every car.

Actually, I like it better than the coupe. Again, with the exception of the puke-tastic headlights.

unique for sure, but it just doesnt work well in execution. As much as I love wagons and shooting brakes, there is no need for it on this. Just patch up the side windows and we can have a 4c delivery model

Sure as hell works for the tz3 stradale, though.

general shape/line wise that is. Clearly not a shooting break.

I have a hard time believing Zagato came up with that. It looks like a little RV

Not only does that just not look right, but a mid-engined shooting brake? WTF? There's like a school locker of storage space under that thing...

And!?
![]() 09/25/2013 at 13:38 |

First off, that's not a shooting brake. Secondly, it started as a regular Clio and then they moved the powertrain backwards (and did lots of other stuff to make it work, of course).
Turning a mid-engined sports car into a shooting brake makes no practical sense, and the only reason I can think of is that it might lower the drag coefficient.

I agree with you. Should make it Targa instead.

What's sad is most everyone doesn't like this. This, however, is one of the few shooting brakes that I actually like! I love the coupe, but this isn't all that bad looking to me.

Well, now, see, here we have an interesting debate topic: How is a shooting brake defined, and how does it differ from a hatchback or a wagon?
I would argue that the terms, even in their original context, are very nearly interchangeable, in much the same way that "Estate" and "Wagon" are used interchangeably today, as they simply different terms used to describe the same concept. I would argue Renault Clio V6 Sport is indeed a shooting brake, in that a shooting brake tends to refer to something that is a mix of a coupe and a wagon, which I believe most three-door hatches genuinely are.

Blech. Loose the windows and we'll have something.

Kamm tail =/= Shooting Brake

There is definitely a difference between a hatchback and a shooting brake. Not only are SBs normally (although not by definition) based on sports cars or GTs, but they have a longer roof than a hatchback. They are essentially 3-door estates, usually sporty ones like the Volvo P1800ES, Reliant Scimitar GTE, BMW Clownshoe of Ferrari Four.
Nobody has ever called a Renault Clio a shooting brake! There's nothing coupé about it to be mixed up with estate.

Oppositelock, the final frontier. This is the story of pauljones, on a many-year mission, to seek out new cars and viewpoints, and oddly go where no enthusiasts has gone before, including asserting the the Renault Clio V6 Sport is a shooting brake.

Very nice.
You're still wrong :-P
It's (a beast of) a hot hatch.

No, but it's a mid engined car with a rear storage space.
Not very useful... probably.

True. I suppose you can put some umbrellas in or something.

It's too early for me to understand sarcasms. So if I'm missing a joke, apologies. Otherwise, the above pic is a shopped version of this one:
